Hi folks. Thought I'd start the December bar. Been below zero up here in Alaska so far. Today got up to 13 degrees and felt kinda warm. How strange smile Hope you guys are staying warmer than I am!

Here's my own arrangement of Just a Closer Walk with Thee

That was absolutely lovely, Lady Payne. Had a lovely jazzy feel to it but yet, it was so sweet.

It's below freezing here too. I'm in Winnipeg, Canada.

I recorded this piece last week:

BRIAN CRAIN: Canon in D

How do you post the YouTube thumbnail, by the way?

Hello! The Dec Piano Bar has dropped off the leader board already! I remember this tune. Sung in Pentecostal Churches by the oldest members surviving . . .who were heavily influenced by the 1904 "Revival" which spread throughout the Western world followed by the upheaval of war. . . the merry sound of out of tune pianos (I had to play one, lol it was a shocker) which didn`t sound bad at the back of the room!

Nicely done, LadyPayne!

You really got into that well, lass! A "pop" classic of yesteryear, paves the way for much more recent stuff. Way ahead of it`s time in it`s simplicity and concept. Enjoyed greatly! . . AND you got all those comments on Youtube! I`m insanely jealous!

Ladypayne, a great performance of that wonderful hymn.

Candlelightpiano, very well played and that grand looks good. About how to make the preview, just click the fifth button from the left on the posting form and paste the YouTube link in the text box that pops up.

Winter Light

"Winter Light" the theme from the 80's movie "The Secret Garden". from Pianonewbie1 on Vimeo.

[/video]

This song is titled –“Winter Light" and was the first song I wanted to learn on Piano.
The score is from the movie the “The Secret Garden “at MusicNotes .com
I am now learning the original score, which is beautiful -composed by Zbigniew Priesner “Winter light.”
Someone very nice who I’ve know for a long time told me his name is pronounced Ziegtiev,(ZIEGTIV) with a “T” not “B”. And no WAH for the “W”
I do regret the poor video quality but my camcorder works best in daylight, and I have to convert the “vid” to upload for dial up.
Please comment,- positive or negative
It is played on a Casio PX 100 thru a Marantz amplifier then directly to Dell computer. No music effects or editing (nor video) .

That was very nice, pianonewbie. I've never heard the piece before or watched the movie so it was interesting to hear. Keep up the playing!

I've just found this thread and had a listen.
LadyPayne, I wish I could play so freely - but I know it takes a lot of practise. What a lovely view you have. I'd be there all day if I could.
Candlelightpiano, that was so beautiful and full of peacefulness.
Here in Kelowna B.C. it was -10 c 4 pm today and dropping. I'ts not supposed to get that cold right here!

Thank you, Palmpirate, for your kind words.

Here's another one of my favorite pieces I recorded the same day I recorded Canon in D:

I've been working on this piece for some time now, and was going to submit it for the last recital but it wasn't ready. Anyways I had to play this piece for my final exam two days ago. Unfortunately I wont be taking piano lessons anymore, but I had fun with them for the past year.
As always I recorded the piece with my cell phone.

Clementi Sonatina Op. 36, No. 3

That was lovely, Augustina. Lots of spirit. It brought back memories of playing Clementi long, long ago. I hope you'll keep playing piano even if you're not taking lessons anymore. You play beautifully.

Pianonewbie1, this was good, I definitely notice improvement.
Candlelightpiano, nice performance of Ave Maria.
Augustina, that was very good, a lively piece.

Decided to put up a classic I've been working on, Can't Help Falling In Love, before turning to Christmas stuff. Without the bridge though, still having trouble with the chords therein. blush Recorded with an electric piano voice, no pedal, tried it first, but felt the sound became overwhelming.

Truly enjoyable to listen to, the winter sparrows outside are likely chirping to your elegantl playing of “Ave Maria”.
I heard the ending dynamics very well, whether they were your‘s or marked on the score, it was swell. (Applause, Applause)

Nice playing, memory invoking and inspirational.
I’d bet a Grand piano sound with the damper pedal would be even more so.

Thank you pianonewbie1. I just wanted to record something with electric piano. cool The usual grand piano sound is possibly better and I might record it again in grand piano, once I've crossed the bridge. grin
