I am so happy that my piano technician is happy that my piano didn't budge from where she put it last January!! She did a bit of regulation today as the let off on some notes was hardly there. Fixed a damper pedal squeak. Tuning it now. Not that it's going to need a lot of adjustment.

Have I said lately how much I love my piano? I know it's not nice to brag or go on about it. But, I really do love my piano!!

I love tuning day. smile I'm getting mine tuned next Friday, and I have four pieces that I've been waiting to record on that first day of fresh tuning perfection. That Red Dot better behave!

It was a long day. Since I keep the lid open (I know I shouldn't but it encourages more practicing) I asked my technician to clean the insides. That took time. Then she adjusted the let off which had dropped on many notes. She said the adjustment would increase my control. That is when I get used to the new feeling.

She pretty much tuned the entire piano regardless of the fact that it was pretty much at the pitch she left it last time. That took more time as she isn't a fast worker, but extremely thorough.

My piano sounds great!! It was a long day though. No time to practice tonight. My dog was in the kennel all day so he wouldn't be underfoot. He's pretty full of beans tonight!! Looking foward to tomorrow!

I learned to tune so that tuning day would happen often.

A well tuned piano is a thing of JOY!!

It seems it's tuning day...
My upright has been tuned this afternoon, and it sounds better (it's tuned once a year).

Nice to hear that your piano holds tune so well and that you enjoy it so much!

I am looking forward to tuning day in about 10 days time.

It was last tuned in the summer and was holding its tune quite well. But then a bit of cold and weather came and sat in the southwest. Knocked it right out of tune! I spoke with the tuner and he said the same thing had happened all around the Valley of the Sun (the Phoenix area).

It's kind of funny now that when I bought my piano, I hadn't actually had the experience of playing on a lot of grand pianos. I knew right away that this piano was the nicest piano I had ever played. But then, that wasn't saying that much.

Now years later, I have had the chance to play quite a few grand pianos. I can say without hesitation that my Mason & Hamlin is still the nicest piano I have ever played. I feel very lucky to own it. And spoiled. But then, I was the one who bought it regardless of the name on the fallboard. Many others declined because it wasn't a Steinway. It was my lucky day finding it.

I tune my own piano too, my 1927 Bechstein. But I am not quite skillful enough to "set" the tuning pins so it doesn't go out of tune. I guess I'm tuning it about 4 times a year - before each quarterly recital!

And I admit that I sometimes skip the high treble - I just can't hear that well up there anymore!
