Hi people,

im am building up a music studio (low profile) and wanted to buy a piano too (also for myself i want to learn to play piano), i had a doubt to buy a Kawai CS7 or the Kawai VPC1 or the Roland RD64.

I heared the Piano VST software is getting better and better.
and for my small experience, i think the kawai VPC1 has a much more realistic touch than the Roland or even the RD64.

as an experienced piano player going to a studio or to jam on, what would you choose?
What advise can you give?

Patience is a virtue. Pity you don't have it. Majority on here are probably still at work.

Studio: midi and controller. IMHO.

... i want to learn to play piano ...

Do you have a teacher lined up? Perhaps a teacher can point you in a good direction regarding equipment.

They are pretty different instruments.

The VPC1 is a full-size controller tuned to work well with common VST's. It comes with no onboard sound. It's the perfect controller for a person at home looking to play one VST at a time with greatest simplicity (no extra buttons, etc.). That's probably a good bet, I would think.

The Roland is a portable, smaller controller (64 keys). Most people would consider it lower end than the VPC1. The Roland also has some tones built-in.

The CS7 is a super high-end console-style keyboard. It has Kawai's best sounds built-in and their best action. It also has a really attractive cabinet. Its form factor doesn't seem perfect for a studio to me.

If it were me I'd use the VPC1 in your circumstance, but your circumstance is different from mine so

Notice that if you want more advanced MIDI functionality like MIDI zone faders, pitch and mod wheels, etc., you might be better off with something like the Kawai MP10 or Roland Rd700NX. Both expensive, but much cheaper than the CS7, I would think.
