Ok so this was interesting. At around 2:10, it really gets good. I think that's your thing, it starts to feel so natural and musical when you get into that real jazzy bluesy style. Maybe it's just personal preference but I really think you were less comfortable with the material preceding that point. It just wasn't as strong, didn't really grab my attention as much. Personal preference, I thought you overdid it on the two handed arps. Also I think glisses might have been a little superfluous. But when you start grooving towards the end there, man I wish I could have heard more of that! Before that point I was thinking "ok you've got chops" after that I thought I was thinking "(expletive), you can play!"

Thanks for the feedback! 2:10 and on is the only improvised section which I'm actually least comfortable with so it's funny to me that you thought that grooved the best. My signal to noise ratio during improvisation is pretty low, and it took me several takes to get through the first 2:10 without major errors, so I was pretty much in "don't play anything stupid!" mode at that point. When I arranged this, which was actually several years ago, I was on a Bobby Enriquez kick and the flourishing arpeggios and two-track glissando were staples of his:

I didn't play the arps very cleanly which is a good way to make them lose impact, but I do understand to each his own. I also never realized until finding this video clip just now that Bobby played those with one hand. Bastard! I should probably have a "non-virtuoso" version of this prepared for playing at the nursing home with those replaced by something a little more subdued...

Thanks for listening.

Just to clarify I liked the arps I just felt you did too many. And yeah they're not super clean but they were still executed musically.

But that is really interesting that your last section was improvised and you feel less comfortable with improv. But I gotta say the difference was drastic. When you got into that zone the music really came out for me. Maybe you're better at it than you think.
