Hi! I want to buy a stage piano but cannot decide between cp4 and pc5.
cp 5 has a higher list price than cp 4, but Tom lee offer a cheaper price for cp 5.
Can u give me some advice?

Is weight, or rather ease of handling, important to you? Are you familiar with 'heritage' UI's from Yamaha which can be cryptic? Answers to these will help. Help you.

Play-test them both and purchase the one your prefer.

Bingo!

But FYI, Catherine, the reason the CP5 is cheaper now is that it is being discontinued in favor of the CP4. The CP4 is, in a sense, a CP5 for less money, with a simpler interface, a lighter travel weight, and a new additional piano sample. But some people still prefer the CP5, it has a slightly different action, and some additional ways to customize the piano sound that the CP4 apparently lacks.

I am very interested in this myself. I recently played the CP4 (and really liked it) but have never played a CP5. For those that have played both - do the CFIII and S6 pianos sound the same on both keyboards or does the CP4 have a more refined sound?

I currently have both. I agree with the above that you need to try before you buy. Also if your main focus is playing the 17 pound weight difference is a big factor. The action of the CP5 is definitely lighter, but keybed preference is very subjective. They are both good actions. The additional piano sound in the CP4 is better than the CP5 offerings, I think the common piano samples sound pretty much the same, as do the eps.

I am probably going to sell my CP5, but given that the price I probably wouldn't get much for it so I may keep it for at home and use the CP4 for gigs.
