Welcome!
I'm self-study piano learner. Unfortunately, my fingers are broad (right-hand ones, especially) and they don't fit between "black keys".
I'm not going to play the piano professionally. I'm just learning how to play in order to be able to play some rock pieces of music, in the future.
Is it a major obstacle? I'm learning to play for myself.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Bye for now

PS
Please forgive me my English.

Your English is great! Way better than my Polish at any rate! smile
Don't let your fingers stop you from enjoying playing the piano.

Every pianist has to deal with the physical challenges posed by their anatomy.

There are great pianists with many different anatomies.

I'm no great pianist but I do well enough for a more or less self taught old lady. My fingers barely fit between the keys. They certainly touch the edges but somehow I manage to play between them anyway. I seem to be coming in between the black keys with more of a curve (arch?) to my fingers than I do when playing white keys. That minimizes thei fingers' widths and just comes naturally with practice.

Slow down and do it right.

My fingers are short & stubby, & when I first started learning, they didn't seem to fit between the black keys. Now that I've been playing for 4 or 5 years, it doesn't seem to be a problem. My fingers haven't changed much, but I've learned to move my hand differently, a bit of an in & out motion, I think. I don't remember my teacher ever specifically telling me to do this, but what with various exercises along with his other comments about hand position, I've become a bit freer with adapting my hand position according to the needs of the moment & finding a 'fit' between my hands & the keyboard. So, no, I don't think it will be a major obstacle. One day, you'll notice (or you might not notice) it just won't be a problem anymore.

Hello everybody,

I would like to thank you for your posts. They are very reassuring. I was a bit worried about my fingers but now having read your opinion I'm happy.

All the best,
