Seiler Questions & Prices in Australia...

My friend in Australia asked me to post the following questions. Any responses greatly appreciated:

Does anyone out there know the Australian RRP for 2013 Seiler 280 Grand in Australia? How about the Australian RRP for a 2009 unused as new model? I would like another source than the dealer for Seiler in Australia. Seiler in Germany couldn't provide those details. Are there any publications particular to Australia that would have this information?

I believe Seilers (the fully German made ones) are not handmade the way Steinway, Bechstien or Shegiru Kawai are. Is that right?

It's a very interesting piano, gorgeous rich warm full basses (incredibly responsive down there) really even through the registers and a lovely good sustaining. There is a crystaline effect to the mid and upper registers in the tone. I think it would not be robust enough to my liking and I worry what that will turn into upon being fully broken in but there is a tremendous clarity all throughout the mid and treble registers for sure and it's for a student that likes it a lot.

Many thanks.

Jerry,

Hey! Good to "see" you here. It has been awhile.

My impression of the Seiler piano has always been that it is a high quality hand made instrument. Samick being involved in management now might alter your perception of the brand, and certainly the Korean built Ed. Seiler is NOT hand built. As long as it is a German built Seiler you are getting a beautiful instrument.

Full Disclosure - I have not taken a close look at Seiler for some years, although I have spent time with Roger Jolly and he explained his thoughts about them from a technical standpoint.

I hope that was helpful,

Thank you for your comments, Rich. I've sent the link to this thread to my friend and I'm sure she'll find them helpful.
