I am compiling a list of the most well known jazz standards with chromatic moving 2 chord vamps in their verses.

I have these three but then I draw a blank... can you continue the list? The criteria are that chords must last 4 beats each, move back and forth by a half step, and it must be a well known standard:

1) "Well You Needn't" ||: F | Gb :||
2) "A Night In Tunisia" ||: Eb7 | D- :||
3) "Caravan" ||: C7 | Db :||
4) ???

I studied briefly with Clare in the '80s. He hated the real book changes that everyone used on Pensativa. In fact when I started playing it for him with the "Night of the cooker" changes, he started yelling at me and said "that's not how I wrote it "!!

Fwiw, here it is with the original changes he wrote . The first page is a condensed lead sheet, the other two pages are Clare's (his own hand) writing with suggested voicings in the first part of the A section..

Dave, many thanx for posting that.

Bill Dobbins transcribed Claire Fischer playing Pensativa (as solo pianist) in the Alone Together collection

This is a link to it for reference (a lot of places have it)

It's also got a transcription of Yesterdays (also solo piano) that's way past mind-bending.

Claire Fischer arranged many of his tunes for piano, including Pensativa, and they're in a Vol 1 and 2 series

Would not mind at all if you reminisced a bit about studying with him ... smile ...thanks for posting that handwritten lead sheet. that's PRIME SOURCE!
