After a long wait, our pianos are finally moved in! They are a Young Chang 6'1" grand which I have had since 2003, and a Charles R. Walter 5'9" grand which my husband and I just purchased in August.

Our set-up is a little odd as we didn't have space to put the pianos side-by-side or dove-tailed together, but hey, it works. And it's better than our previous set-up which was just one electric keyboard in an apartment!

The pianos are slightly out of tune with each other right now, but their tones blend beautifully and sound great in the room. You can't see in the pictures, but the room has a very high ceiling (probably over 20' high at the tallest point). We were happy with our choice to put rugs under the pianos. Their sound definitely fills the room, but the volume is not unpleasant or painful. I was especially impressed with how much better the Young Chang sounded than it did in my parents' living room, which was carpeted and had two large couches in it.

I'll attempt to post a few pictures below. They aren't all the greatest quality, and the Young Chang's glossy finish picked up a lot of fingerprints during the move! Still, you'll get the general idea!

Looks great! Do you play two piano duets a lot?

We will be now! Haha. That's actually how we first got to know each other. We both went to the same school and my husband was looking for someone to play Rachmaninoff's 2nd Suite with, so he asked me. Fast forward a few years, and he asked me to marry him!

We were never able to focus on 2 piano repertoire as much as we wanted to during college, so it will be really great to get to put in some quality time working on stuff together. Also it will be great for rehearsing concertos! smile

Beautiful pianos and a beautiful home!

Glad to see that I'm not the only one with more than one piano! smile

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Thanks! Our landlord actually built the house himself! There is a little bit more detail work that needs to be done (some trim etc. here and there and he is re-carpeting the upstairs) but we love it already!

Lucky you! Your partner has the same passion you do. This is a rarity and indeed the biggest blessing! Your pianos are beautiful. Enjoy them, and your lives.

Looks good.
That Walter should have come with a Jansen artist bench.

So far we love it! I'll try and post a recording after we get them tuned up (probably late November due to our moving schedule.)

We bought it used, which is probably why it didn't come with the original bench.
