I'm a beginner and want a good looking digital piano. I went and played both the cs7 and hp505 today, both black ebony and both similar price. Both looked good and being a beginner, I couldn't tell much between them in terms of sound quality and playing action. I think possibly my preference was the cs7. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two models - they were definitely my favourites of those I played and based on their looks, I want black polished look.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Although physical appearance may count, it is not really the thing to put top of the list when choosing a DP. You need to decide what features or functions are important to you, then get someone to help you choose based on the keyboard touch (both the models you mention are likely OK), sound if you will use the inbuilt sounds, and features you want and will use.

Of the two you mention I would choose the CS7, but others might choose the 505. I chose neither for myself. Both are good but do they fit your needs, and do they speak to you?

If you`re evens on the looks or the performance, go by the price and/or specs.

Both look good, both play well, both an identical price and hence I was hoping someone could give me their comparison of the two.

I did. CS7.

Why? I don't like the keyboard action on the Roland (PHAIII) or the sound (SN). The CS7 looks nicer. Others may have an opposite view. Where will you be then?
