We had a great time. We stopped at 2 on Huntington Av in Boston. One at the museum and the other near the Conservatory!

Thanks, Bamburg! We played on two different pianos throughout the day. She had such a great time! The weather was perfect!

Yes, the Street Piano program that started in England, I believe, to fix up pianos and donate them to the public in cities around the world is awesome.

The local newspaper published the Street Piano Program and where the piano was located and where the Street Piano was going to be located next.

I hurried out to find the piano location before it was moved that was very much out of the way under a bridge overpass out of the weather but lots of foot traffic. On the Sunday morning, I headed out at 7:00 a.m to arrive at 8:00 a.m. thinking most people would be at church, sleeping in, or recovering from a hangover. As usual I played like do at home, always at pp, because playing pp is very personal and intimate when making music - and yes, it was a good time to find the piano. So I took to the Street Piano my beginner music book Leila Fletcher Piano Course 1 which are little 50 pieces of 4 to 8 measures long which I had been playing for 2 years over and over and could play them confidentially and musically. Of course, I had to make a music stand out of a small block of wood and a piece of plastic as backing to hold the music up and used clothes pegs to keep the music from being affected by the wind - because pictures of the Street Pianos never show a music stand. So I may be the only beginner ever to play a street piano - as opposed to people who have had lessons in their lifetime and can find in their brain a piece of music they used to play. I could hear people saying as they walked by - that a day or two or a night or two ago, somebody was playing great music.

The were polite and didn't say anything to me because I was playing beginner music with a music stand and that was more than they ever wanted to know !!!

I played for about 15 minutes and a few passers-by appeared on the move during that 15 minute period. It was my first time playing a piano for anyone because I live alone and play the piano alone and love it - nothing about playing the piano - for me - is anything about an audience but simply the awesome moment of sitting at a 3 legged piano playing anything and hearing the music - is a priceless moment for the ears and the soul/heart.

Me too! We had such a great day. We met a group riding bikes that visited and played on 23 pianos by 6 pm

I wish there would be something like this in Stockholm. The closest to it here has been the piano stairs at Odenplan.

It was the street pianos in London that reminded me of my long buried desire to learn, when I saw them last year. I got home from my trip and looked up local piano teachers. Changed my life, no kidding.

Wow, that's great!
To be honest I haven't been playing the piano much. But, hearing and seeing those pianos everywhere I go has inspired me to start playing plunking around at the piano again. The good news is, I noticed my reading is a lot better than I realized, even after not having looked at a piece of music in several months.
