It may be too late for me to accomplish this in the time alloted, but I'd like to dial it back and try to do something that is actually within my grasp for the 11/15 ABF recital -- i.e. I'd like to submit something more polished than I have in the past.

Aside from Mary Had a Little Lamb, does anyone have any suggestions? Here are the aspects I'd like to hit:

1) Major key (i.e. nothing dreary)
2) Slow on the tempo side
3) Public domain
4) Bright/pretty/uplifting
5) Musically interesting

For #5, to me this means some tempo changes, accidentals, that sort of thing. I'm fairly comfortable in different keys and with accidentals, it's speed and rhythm that are my biggest stumbling blocks. For purposes of the recital anyway, I'm not looking for a challenge piece to help me improve those areas.

So far the only thing I've come up with is Mozart Minuet in G, but even that is pretty fast for me. I'm likely to max out at this tempo.

I'd like to come up with 5-6 that I could read through and listen to before making a decision.

Any ideas?

Some of the easier pieces here are quite nice: http://www.pianostreet.com/search/recommended-pieces.php

I downloaded a LOT from this site

http://makingmusicfun.net/htm/printit_piano_sheet_music_index.htm

when I first got my dp -- at every level they have classics, traditional and holiday music.

I'm sure you can find something that appeals to you from this list.
Don't be afraid to check out levels 3 and 4.. I don't know what their system is but I think that in many cases they put the bar low.

Look at leve 4 - Waltz by Kabalevsky - it is a darling piece.

Thanks Cheryl. I'll take a look.

I'm also considering Bach WTC I Prelude in C...

It's one of my favorites in what I could consider as the "early-intermediate" canon. It seems fairly straightforward, but I'm wondering if it's too much of a stretch.

I know I should just try it, but would be interested in opinions on this piece in particular.
