Anyone order from them recently? Been waiting 2.5 months for my sound reduction kit order ($500) which was charged immediately, and was supposed to ship a month ago. Prodded them a few times with emails but I get slow responses, etc...

Now that I think about it, it's probably not really worth it to keep the noise down for apartment living. I play with the lid down. I can hear my upstairs neighbors all the time (they don't seem to have to go to work), so I was worried about bothering them when playing a lot. I've had my piano for a few months now, haven't heard any neighbors complain. Well, I just moved in and haven't actually met any of them yet anyway. So maybe I don't need it. It is pretty pricy... Thoughts?

Try http://dawsonstringcovers.com They've always been very quick for me, and I prefer their covers to Edwards.

Allen W,

had all the same problems as you. took a LOT of emails to get my string cover and it was still messsed up. i really like the owner of dawson and wish i went with him. super good service from him. see if you can cancel and go with dawson. just my opinion, no way i want to start a fight, just stating my experience.............blob

No experiece with Edwards, but Clark Dawson is very responsive and answers his emails. We got our string covers in a few days after ordering. I normally don't bother to write testimonials, but I did write one for Clark because of his great customer service. Wait a minute, I guess I did it again. Hint, if you buy through your RPT, you get a much better price (if your RPT doesn't resell to you with mark-up).

Two months these days is just too long. That might have been typical 20-30 years ago. I heard recently that Google is launching a same-day shopping service for the San Francisco Bay Area to compete with Amazon's next-day service. Merchants need to understand if they put themselves on the Internet (have a website), then customer expectation is that they could operate with the speed of the 21st century.

You should always pay by credit card, and dispute the bill if you have not received the goods.

Yeah, and I would say that's another reason to buy through your RPT. My RPT comes to my house five times a year. Always best to buy through someone you know and trust. Of course, with Dawson it's not an issue.

Good timing, I was just thinking about buying one of these (string cover, not the sound reduction). I'll look around to see who's selling Dawson's around here. I don't want my piano to get all dusty or even worse, gunky (I know that may take years but...).

The bottom baffles came relatively quick and came with a utility knife in case I needed to make modifications. However, it did take Ms. Edwards a few weeks to finish and ship my top foam pad. It came in a long box tied into a roll by a nice strip of the same wool felt material as the foam pad cover.

Keep calling/emailing her...

Another good source to consider is
Barnes String Covers
