I've been searing for an old playable upright piano in the San Francisco Bay Area. I found this jewel and wanted to share with others because I will not be buying it. I'm looking for something taller;

I believe this piano is about 48" tall. The owner thinks it was built in 1932. I saw and played the piano yesterday. I'm no expert, but I have now played at least 30 uprights of similar vintage. This one is far and away the nicest. It is responsive and has a sweat sound. The build quality is incredible. Appears to have original ivories and strings. Some crackling of the finish on the rear of the sound board, out of tune about 20 cents, but in tune to itself. To my untrained eye it does not show much ware. The case has some damage to the finish, but I didn't find any structural damage.

The owner is asking $250. She is having an estate sale tomorrow. I suggest you contact her immediately if you are interested.

I have no association with the seller other than my visit to see the piano yesterday.

Here is the Craigslist link:

I have some more photos that I can share if there is any interest or PM me.

Learning to play the piano, tweaking my 1907 Ivers Pond upright, and mostly playing a Yamha C7 because of its predictability.

Just wait till the "experts" see that it is "only an 85 note piano". No doubt its value will plummet... wink

It would be hard to go below $250.

Good grief. You didn't buy this at 250 dollars? Because you want something taller? Are you buying a piano as a musical instrument or as something to stand on when you paint the ceiling?
