A simple query. Who owns what? Anybody know? . . Tell us! If you`re a concert pianist, tell us why . . .

Here's Cyprien Katsaris talking about the AvantGrand N3 as I imagine Yamaha gave him an N3 just for doing this demonstration:

I am going to switch my Kawai NS-35 with a Roland digital.

The weather in Hong Kong is cruel to acoustic pianos. I tune the piano day 1 and all gone out of tune day 2. Just impossible.

Not a good sound at all, but Chano Domínguez is playing a V-Piano, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P96YNBsLaY0
and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qf1MHxr65k (phone).
Despite the recording quality, he gets a beautiful tone out of it. Yes, not a classical concertist, but his skills are not bad smile .

I'm not a concert pianist, but I have made my living solely from playing. Does that count?

I doubt it. At least professional classical pianists (a very small group of people) need to be practicing all the time on concert-quality instruments. Most of them wouldn't even practice on uprights, I suspect. And they probably don't have time to be hanging around in forums.

Many of our forum members are great pianists and focus on classical music. We also have lots of members who derive income from piano playing, but classical pianists that are paid to perform are a very rare breed and not one given to internet forums.

I think I'm in sync with Dave on this one. My guess is that by far the majority of professional musicians playing 88 black and white key instruments, use a digital or keyboard, and are not concert pianists.

By all means do it. But keep your fireproof suit handy.

Well quite a positive set of responses over there, on the Piano forum, although the Pianist's forum may have been more enlightening, or entertaining.
