Maybe the best recording of this piece I've ever heard, both as a function of the musicality of the playing and the sound quality of the recording itself:

My impressions of this recording: Love the dynamics and tone, troubled by some of the tempo changes. Felt strange at times, but also beautiful at times.

That Horowitz recording is special - my favourite recording though is from one of Josef Hofmann's live Casimir Hall recitals:

One thing I think is undeniable is that these old recordings from this era have a certain charm that isn't present anymore on modern recordings. More adventurous.
