Thank you all!

Yup, all 36 years of wisdom over here! ^_^ And not only that, but I've got all my wisdom teeth there and my silver hair shining! wink

If anyone wants me on FB, I'm Nikolas Sideris. Should be easy to spot I think...

EDIT: And I should note that I've enjoyed the friendship of many people here, some of who I've met in person (even though I'm in Greece) while most only online. But I honestly am enjoying my time here (and my 4000 posts should be proof of that I think)!

Happy Birthday from Olympia! I'd sing Happy Birthday to you, but it's copyrighted and I can't afford the royalty on a teacher's pay!

Anyway, hope you and your family were able to celebrate, that in your honor, it was a calm day in your neighborhood, and you didn't down too much ouzo!

Why do the Gleeks get all the attention?
(John Cleese doing his Chinese imitation.)

Happy birthday old chap ... my eldest grandson is called Nicholas ...
so I better behave myself ... if I was in Athens now ...
I would dash up to the Parthenon, gaze in sheer ecstasy in passing
through the Nike Apteros gateway, at the Caryatid porch to the Erechtheion, and bow in devotion in front of the 8 Doric Columned Parthenon.

The structure on the stylobate base measures 228'2" x 101'4" and
housed the Statue of Athena. Ictinus and Callicrates were the architects, and Pheidias was the master sculptor.

There you are chaps ...
you get a free snapshot education on Classical Greece,
while I wish Nikolas happy birthday.

I treasure the two tiny pieces of strewn marble around the Parthenon,
which my dear Greek grandsons brought home on their last visit to Athens ... don’t tell the cops.

But what amazes me to this day ... is, how was it possible 500BC,
that there were such clever chaps around ... imagine meeting

Pythagoras (Science),
Aristophanes (Comedy)
Aeschylus (Tragedy)
Hippocrates (Medicine)
Aristotle (Philosophy)
Demosthenes(Oratory)
Archimedes (Mathematics)
Plato (Philosophy),
Socrates (Philosophy),
Thucydides (History)\
Euripedes (Drama)

The mind boggles!

What I've never understood is how they knew what the date was, in BC!

Gary: Same wise my friend... smile

Tim: They were too clever I guess. And over the centuries the DNA deteriorated to what we are today (let me not get political in my own happy birthday thread)... grin
