My husband sent me this link this morning and I thought all of you might like it too. I know there are lots of Satie fans around here and it's interesting to think about him and the relationship with Cage, whether you like Cage or not!

What, the piece or the article?
I've yet to experience a performance. I occasionally play it on my own, but tend to stop in the upper two digits. Or earlier. At that level, at least, I find it rather refreshing. Minimal, but not having the kind of "stupid" numbing of some minimalist things. I think the article describes it quite well. And I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one who wasn't able to memorize it. smile

I wish we could learn more about Satie the man, but then I think in some way that was his point in life. Such a thing really isn't possible.
