Here are my four, anyone else here have some favourites?

the Lawrence Alma-Tadema Steinway (I'm not sure if this image is of the original or a replica I read about)


the Emperor Bösendorfer (probably appeals to my inner gold bug)


the Rheingold Bechstein (the mermaids are its saving grace!)


and this Bechstein with the lions at the Liszt museum in Weimar:

Art pianos are not always grands:




...like this Erard from about 1870.



Here is a 1927 Bosendorfer (very similar to the more modern model 275).



I also enjoy unusual modern art grands like this Fazioli.



...or this Schimmel Pegasus.

It's not a piano! It's one of those electronic gizmos with keys. It was built by Seaquarium und Sohne. (Yet another S&S)

Wow. Thank goodness for the human imagination.

One of the piano stores here in Dallas has a Pegasus for sale. I wasn't impressed with the sound, but that may have been its condition more than the piano itself. It was covered in microscratches because of the vinyl case. It was interesting, but for that money, I could have bought a very nice new Schimmel.

I too would rather pay for tone, sustain, how the action feels, et c., than the case design!

Sometimes I've wondered if there is any advantage to performing two piano music on something like this versus two grands fitting one curve inside the other - maybe to still have a lid directing the sound rather than taking the lids off would be one advantage:

That's a "giraffe" piano.

I've always been fascinated by this Connover:

I like the giraffe, what the heck if your going to go up.. might as well go all the way!
very stylistic..and space saving too!

I am pretty sure that is a studio upright with a fake top that makes it look like a giraffe.

I've played one of those reversed Baldwins. Everything comes out in inverted retrograde.
