It's been a while since I've checked in. I'm not sure I'm even "on the wagon" anymore--I know I missed a week during vacation in June, and might have missed a couple other days here and there,
but it's still my intent to practice every day.

One of my big problems is finishing things. I've started a book "Music for Elementary Teachers" several times but never finished it, even though all pieces should be easily within my ability.
I so I'm planning to do piece a day until I DO finish it--unless I hit a harder one that take more than a day. I'll check in from time to time to report progress.
Started Day 1 p. 85 Skip to My Lou; Yesterday was Day 4 Grandfather's Clock.
today it's Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight p 89. The last song is p 254, but there are some chapters in between without a song on each page.

Tinman, I'll put you back on the wagon as of today smile

For keeping us updated on your goals and achievements why don't you post in the FOYD thread (Focus on your Domain) or the Achievement of the Week thread. I suggest this because most folks don't come here to read this thread -it is just for reporting absences or signing up.

Good luck with sticking to your plan!

I'll be away from my G3 form Tuesday 20th Aug thro Sunday 25th Aug. will get to play again on Monday 26th. My youngest son is getting married in Boulder CO. He has a piano but I'm not staying with him so can't practice.
I hate all the stopping and starting with playing but that's life. I get in what I can.
It feels like binge dieting - working hard to stay the same! Consistency is important to really get results in both instances!

Well, all your reasons for not playing are pretty darn good ones.

Felicitations to your son and daughter-in-law to be!

Finally back from a longish business trip with no piano. Felt very strange to not get up and play every morning. Missed my wife, my dogs, and my piano....and I'll never tell anyone in what order! grin

Hopefully I can still find middle C when I sit down at the bench this evening.

Please ding me for August 12th through August 18th.

Still in there, in spite of some serious obstacles. The guy downstairs has been sawing intermittently for a week now - I think he's laying a hardwood floor, and cutting lengths of wood as he goes. Cut for 10 minutes - lay a section - cut for 10 more minutes. Sounds like it could even be a parquet design, with lots of really little inlaid pieces. I got up at 5 for a few days & practiced on the digital, so I could get some time in before he started. But today he stopped for lunch & never started again so I've had a blissful hour playing my accoustic. ♥♥♥ Maybe he's FINISHED!!

joyoussong - bummer! I am so glad i live out in the country. But then maybe I'd be bothering neighbours with my practice if i was in town. I use my headphones if its serious practise and my other half is in the house, otherwise I just love to hear the acoustic for myself. Wonder if your neighbour knows you play piano!

I think everyone at this end of the building knows. But there are 2 other people with acoustics & 2 with digitals (plus me with both), so it's a pretty forgiving place. The woman directly below me plays too - much better than I do, she's been playing for 50+ years - so the guy on the ground floor probably hears her more than me. I usually close doors & windows, too, if I'm playing the acoustic.

If I can still join at this late date please sign me up. I have been playing since 4/1/13 and the only days I've missed have been four days of family vacation. I even bought a 61 key yamaha to take on business trips. You know for evenings in the hotel. I guess that will send me straight to the excused list...

Hi Mr. Square,

well, if you played on your portable on your trips, that counts!

Are you American (1 April 13) or other? (4 January 13) - if you meant January I'll put you down on the "pure list" if you meant April I'll put you on the late start list smile

I'm American... January of this year I was playing blues on guitar. I started April 1st 2013 as a beginner with the Piano. Guess I'm a late starter all around. And on the family vacation, no, I did not take the digital.

Traveling on business today from dawn until very late -- will try for a bit of playing at piano store in NYC, but I may have to skip this one day. I would have fallen off pure list anyway in next three months due to international travel.

Ok, well just let me know after the fact- I don't record "might misses" ...only the ones that happen . No need to give a heads up.

Could you put me in the "Late Starter" list. I just started playing in July, been practicing daily since then. Trying hard to make it a daily habit...

I am back home. We drove overnight, so I managed to play everyday.
BUT tomorrow I'm leaving again (this is our big big holiday, since we are going to China), so I will not able to play from tomorrow, August 28th, until September 11th.
