I have had to turn down a lot of gigs because I did not have a good stage piano. The korg sp-250 seems both affordable and pretty decent piano.

My price range is pretty limited(at most can spend 700 dollars). Is the Korg worth it?

If you can deal with the weight, the Korg is a pretty decent $700 piano, especially if you will be relying on the internal speakers, where the Korg has the edge. (Though the SP-250 has been replaced by the SP-280.) At that price, other possibilities would be the Yamaha P-105 which most people will probably say sounds better, or Casio PX-350 which most people will probably say feels better. If you don't care about the speakers and don't need anything more than piano out of it, the cheaper PX-150 will work about as well as the 350. Yamaha also has the cheaper P-35.

I just can't see getting a 250. It's so old and very bulky. The Yamaha P-105 IMO should be it.

THe 105 does seem to have a sound closer to the yamaha acoustic pianos. What I love about the Korg is the stand the piano comes on(with the place for the piano). Also it seems the bundles come with more then the bundles of the yamaha(not a big fan of casio).

Is the stand appropriate for tranport? Are you shopping Kraft with a x-stand bundle?
Why are you looking at a 250 ?
Pretty much across the board except for the keybed, the 105 is more appropriate and better.

The Korg seems to have a good playing action, on paper at least. It felt good to me, and sounded good through it`s own speakers. For a gig, you`d need an external amp set up probably which means a "line out" although headphone socket would do at a pinch.(The Korg`s about 20 W per channel but these things usually are misleading)

Check how it comes apart, is it easy/convenient to carry? I lugged a Clavinova about some time ago. Not clever when you`re older ha ha

The Korg SP-280 replaced the 250. It appears to be the same as the older 250 although with the NH action instead of the RH3. I played 2 SP-280's and think they are nice pianos. The feel is close to the Yahama P-105. I would recommend you check out the P-105 also. Only other contender in this price range is Casio which you don't seem to like. If I were you, I would take a look at the Casio also because it has a heavier action. This will help you decide what kind of touch you prefer. Action is the most important thing on a digital piano. You can always change the sound using software pianos.

I see the 280 has nice legs.
I have the Privia Px5s which I use live. I use it with another piano module layered with it. It's a modeled virtual piano which provides great sustain and resonance when you need it.
By itself as a solo instrument I like the Px5s but playing in a group I think I would have to recommend the Yamaha over it.

I have the SP-280 and love it- it has what I am looking for in a home piano; speakers, steinway sample and decent non-piano sounds.

However- I find it difficult to move. A P105 is easier to transport and has a smaller footprint as does a PX-130

Well the good news, was I was able to up my budget, and found a keyboard that I was smitten with. A korg krome 88.
