Carlos, you deserve your own "Happy birthday Carlos" thread for lots of reasons. I'd start it but I'm not sure of forum etiquette since it already has been started here.

To be safe I'll join the rest in wishing you a wonderful day. There are a handful of members who really contribute to this site and you are one of them. I'm not talking about just coming up with a good idea and letting everyone else do the work. On many occasions it has been you who has stepped up and got things done.

From welcoming new members to giving performance feedback to fixing our system when it goes down. This is why you can display the 'Super-Carlos' award with honor. A unique award for a unique person.

Have a wonderful day.

Yikes! I just noticed the skull on top of the piano! Did someone shoot the piano player lo these many years ago?

I'd love to figure out something like that to do with my old piano, since it doesn't much work as piano any more, but it has such a beautiful case. I've seen desks made from them, but it's more expensive to do than I can afford right now. But it's a project for some day.

I am in at number 17 and this is my eight recital in a row, something I really look forward to.
I was thinking about the recital process and the stages I go through.

Anticipation - the next recital
Decision - what to play
Resolution - settling on what to play
Work/fun - practice, practice, practice
Excitement - the one month to recital thread opens
Doubt - am I ready
Frustration - recording the performance and getting it anywhere as good as you can without the red dot.
Satisfaction - got a half decent one in the can
Relief - its in the can , I don't have to play it anymore if I don't want to
More satisfaction - its uploaded and I am in
More anticipation - the 15th approaches
Contentment - the recital has started
Enjoyment - listening to the music
More enjoyment - giving feedback to compliment the musicians
Even more enjoyment - getting positive feedback on your performance
Anticipation - the next recital
Decision - what to play
Resolution - settling on what to play
Work/fun - practice, practice, practice......................................

DENIAL No, it can't be time already!
ANGER How can I not be ready with something. What have I been doing with myself?
BARGAINING This piece won't be too bad if I cover up most of it with pedal, right?
DEPRESSION Oh, it still sounds terrible even with all that pedal!!!
ACCEPTANCE Woo,hoo - Monica opened up submissions. Uploading!!!

I'm in, finally.

This was one of the toughest battles I've had with the red dot. I'm not sure why that thing just rips me to shreds. It should get easier over time.

Not perfect - never is, but I'm in!

I'm in a full 24 hours ahead of time!

I am going to try for another take, but decided to upload this passable one for the meantime. My left hand is sluggish at the end, among other things - but this'll do if nothing better happens.

Looks like Mar Red submitted twice rather than updating the mp3 file. I'll fix it tomorrow if he/she doesn't see this and fix it him/herself.

24 hours until the recital closes for submissions!

If you're a first time submitter, please try to get your piece in ASAP, so if there's any problems with submitting I (or the smart people here on the forum) will have the chance to trouble-shoot. Remember it has to be an mp3 file, not an mp4, or a video file, or whatever.

I am in at 54. Maybe I'll get the coveted last spot (Sorry Trapper John). Its what it is and it still needs a ton of work, but I didn't want to miss another recital.

No Sam Rose so far? That would be a bummer to not hear something from him. He went on his cross-country trip and posted from MN along the way, but nothing since late June. I hope he's OK.

Well, Sam is usually one of the people who submit in the last 5-10 minutes, so maybe he'll make an appearance--but if he hasn't posted since June, that doesn't sound promising.
