Hi,
This site has been invaluable in information & knowledge and in our quest for piano. Wife always have a dream in owning a baby grand so after much research, we decided to get new Hailun 151 baby grand.
We just got the piano 3 days ago but after playing on it for a while, my wife(beginner) felt that there's something weird with the sound. Everytime she hit the key, there's a loud "clock" sound, this "clock" sound is louder than the actual key note.
Spoke to my piano dealer 2 days ago, still waiting for his reply on this issue.
I recorded the strange sound using my mobile but was unsure how to upload it here?

Hi trex101, and welcome to Piano World! I'm thinking it is something minor... did you notice it when you played the piano at the showroom, or did it make the noise the day it was delivered? I know it bears on your mind, but be patient and wait for the dealer to fix it. (Easy for me to say, I know ). Rick

Stay on your dealer to service the instrument. It's usually something very simple, and it is very common for brand new instruments to reveal little nuisance issues as they settle in to their new home.
Please let us know how well it is resolved after the piano technician visits. In advance of that, I don't know how much advice you could get here.

90% of issues with new pianos are easily fixable and tend to pop up soon after they're placed in service. I'd keep bugging the dealer to send a tech to resolve this immediately, and keep playing the piano as much as you can and note anything else out of the ordinary.
Did you select this specific piano as a new, floor model or was it one you didn't get to try in advance of delivery?

It's a brand new unit that the dealer prepare it for our audition. Didn't notice it then but after it arrive home, just find that it sound weird.
Is there anyway that i can upload the sound file that i recorded it using my mobile? Its .3gp file

Maybe Norbert might know, he handles marketing and advertising for Chinese pianos here. You're sure of that? Just show me your $$ and I'll show you "my" piano. Provided you're interested getting best possible quality for your hard earned money. By the way, glad to let you have a tier 1 or 2 piano when otherwise could get only one from tier 3,4 or 5. The by far largest majority of our business today. Don't hesitate to give me a ring if can help! Norbert

The loud clock sound is a characteristic of Chinese pianos. JK. Maybe Norbert might know, he handles marketing and advertising for Chinese pianos here. Or maybe we should add this to that Chinese piano owners thread.
I don't know who you are or what you are. I don't care if you have a beef with Norbert, or not. But...don't interject BS into a thread where an owner has a legitimate question and disguise a goofy opinion as Truth...the person is worried about a little noise in his new piano. If this was my first new piano, I might be a little worried, too. Sarcasm does not translate well in this media.

I tried but seem like youtube doesn't accept 3gp file. Will try converting it to mp3 or mp4, see if it works.

Many members upload mp3 files to BOX. It might be worth a try.

Sounds pretty normal to me. You are playing the extreme high notes there. They are always more "knock" than note up there. I'd say there's nothing wrong with your piano.
PS - where did you buy it?

Oh ok, i'm glad it is normal.
Bought it from Bernies Music land, under the brand Bernstein which is a exact copy of Hailun 151.

Yes, I've played the Bernstein Hailuns. If you bought the one from the showroom, it will have received dealer prep. If you got a brand new one from "out the back", it is very unlikely to have received dealer prep. If that's the case, you might benefit from having a tech go over it after a bit of settling-in time.

The high keys do have a lot more of key noise on a relative basis. If another piano in the store sounds the same, its probably normal. If not, ask the dealer to send a tech over.

That sounds like a pretty normal extreme high end to me. The sound is "thin" up there on most pianos, and the percussive sound of the hammer strike is more pronounced than in the lower registers. I don't think there is anything wrong with your new piano. Coming from a digital the sound of a "real" piano in the uppermost octave can be a shock.
