Out with the old... Boston 118PE

My lab checking it out. That is her "Nose Art" all over the window.

I had to rearrange the livingroom to get this one in here. The wall decor and the TV will move. The TV is going where the Boston was.

And this is where the Boston was...

I've been playing 3 months. That's why I say I'm an idiot. I have been a guitar player for 30+ years and I'm REALLY enjoying the piano. If you can't tell. The S&S is an unplayed 2000 L that I got from my local S&S dealer where I take my lessons.

Yes, you are an idiot. But a damned lucky one!

Plodding through piano music at a frustratingly slow pace since 9/2012.

Standard disclaimer: I teach many things. Piano is not one of them.

I am an idiot as well.
I even consider myself as a bigger idiot than most of the idiots.
So does that mean someday I will get a Steinway too?
Cool!
Congratulations by the way!

The corners at the end o` the keyboard are a bit sharp; you can soon plane `em off . .

Mr. Square, I have read your post, here:

I've been playing 3 months. That's why I say I'm an idiot. I have been a guitar player for 30+ years and I'm REALLY enjoying the piano. If you can't tell.

Congratulations, Mr. Square.

Had a Clavinova CLP-50 for 20 years - never touched it. After playing it for about 6 months recently as a beginner I asked a piano saleman to look for a 10 year or older 3 legged piano with lots of bullet holes and with lots of cigarettes burns, so cheap, ugly and dirty piano with good action - but forget about the sound. After a month - I stopped in the store and asked for the salesperson. They said the salesman is gone - and after describing a piano I could afford, they told me they had a Yam C in excellent condition. I said how much - I told them it was, over my budget, thanked them and left the store. I walked a few blocks and then realized I had survived cancer, I was old-old - good chances DON'T come often, remembering a little money my late mother had left me - I ran back as fast as possible to the piano store and said I will buy it - I will buy it - I will buy it.

The legged piano is the most awesome thing I have ever owned. I am sure you will feel the same way about your piano.

Many people have pets that they talk to and pat. Often as I go by the piano, I will lift the lid of the keys and run my fingers across 4 or 5 keys and love hearing the sound like people who like hearing their cat purring.

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

I'm an idiot too. I've been playing upright bass and electric bassguitar for the last 15 years and just started playing piano about 2 weeks ago. But I must admit, I do not regret me playing upright bass at all, I really love that instrument, but I wish I started with piano earlier that's all.
Congratulations with the S&S thumb

Mr Square, idiot NO, passionate YES!

When I first began lessons I had an electrronic keyboard, my teacher said if you really are passionate about the piano buy the very best piano you can afford, then you will never need to buy another.
I spent my life savings on a second hand Yamaha G3 and have never regretted it.

Congratulations on your beautiful new piano, I hope it brings you good luck and much happiness.

Thank you, each and every one for your kind words and understanding. I am not a rich man and this was a significant event in my life. I am blessed witha very understanding wife. Now I need only work hard to be worthy of both the piano and my wife.

Thank you again.

Well if your an idiot then I am too! I bought my Bohemia grand piano before even having my first lesson. I just knew I wanted to play piano so badly that I would and would love it. And I was right. I've been playing guitar for years also so I did have the advantage of musical experience which makes it much much easier. Enjoy your beautiful new piano in good health for many years!! It is true as was said already "you only live once" in this lifetime anyway. lol So live large! smile

I am so happy for you! I believe that it is this passion that ultimately makes us the people and musicians we become. Congratulations on your Steinway. You are very fortunate to have found it, especially now. In four years when I retire from my job, I plan on purchasing a new Yamaha CX2SH. Have fun. Learn. Create. Eat/sleep/drink/think/love piano. Nothing could be better!

Mr. Square,

If having a shiny new Steinway in you home is being an idiot, then sign me up for idiot school.

Life is a fleeting thing. There are no guarantees. Ya gotta do what you an do when you can do it!

I know you will enjoy your new piano for many years to come. Some of the replies to your post idicate that you will most likely look back on this purchase as one of your best and smartest decisions.

Congratulations!!

Hey you got my teacher's piano! Very nice. Congrats.

It's never too late to realize that piano is superior even though guitar wins the popularity contest by a landslide. smile
