Hello everyone, I wanna learn how to play piano and start with buying a digital piano. Which one do you recommend a used Yamaha CLP320 (3 years old) or a brand new Casio Privia PX750? Yamaha is about 150$ cheaper then Casio. Your recommendations are very valuable.

Thank you very much.

All I can say is the Yamaha keyboard takes anything you can throw at it. It`s bulletproof. Dunno about Casios. But they are now a name to be reckoned with and with a good guarantee you may be happy. Try `em first if you can . . . and good luck!

Thank you Peter.
Is there anyone who played both of them or at least one of them? Since Yamaha clp320 is a product which is on market since 2010 I cannot find a good comparison on the web. Casio PX750 reviews are very positive.

Tim Praskin's review of the CLP320 is here:

http://azpianonews.blogspot.ca/2010/05/new-yamaha-clavinova-clp320-vs-yamaha.html

What's attractive about it (to me) is that it has the GH action (same as the P155), which is very good -- nicer than the P105's GHS action.

You must be careful in reading the specs on the Yamaha's. The CLP320 _doesn't_ have "string resonance" or "stereo sustain". And it's got one loudspeaker per channel, 20 watts per channel. But it does use multi-samples (at different volume levels). And it's got MIDI ports, rather than a USB port.

The PX-750 has a roughly-equivalent set of features. Less power in the amps, USB connectivity (no MIDI). Same piano-sound generator as the PX-150 (which is pretty good).

If the prices are similar, I can't see anything that says clearly:

. . . Buy _this_, not _that_.

Either one will work fine for you.

. Charles

PS - bias - I own a PX-350.

Hi Deltugay,

I can't comment on the Yamaha CLP320, as I have never tried that model. However, I recently purchased a Casio PX-850, which I am very happy with. The PX-850 shares the same keyboard action as the PX-750 you are considering.

There is a recent thread I posted here, in which I provide some details and impressions. Here is the link. Perhaps it may be of some help:
