Here's a recording I just made of my new Young Chang Y175. The microphone placement isn't that great so the bass notes got a little bit muffled. I experimented with lid half-open and lid fully open and I think I prefer half-open for recording with my cheap microphone. (Blue Yeti USB)

Oh and keep in mind that this was sitting in a box just a week ago. It has been tuned and regulated before delivery, but I'm waiting a few more weeks for it to settle before getting it tuned at my place. So sorry that it is slightly out of tune. It's also a bit bright sounding.

So unfortunately, the visuals are better than the audio -- but oh well. Comments welcome!

Very Nice!

The piano has lots of color and you know how to use it. I like your, phrasing, voicing and balance with the counterpoint.

Your new, though rented piano, should serve you very well.

Enjoy,

Marty in Minnesota

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

Most of my initial repertory is from this arranger of video game music from Japan. In fact, his music was what inspired me to start learning piano again less than a year ago... after lessons as a kid from over 10 years ago.

I love the jazzy parts he throws in along with familiar melodies. I noticed that most versions of this on Youtube sound a little bit robotic. I prefer a more romantic interpretation of his arrangements. However, I still need to work on my technical accuracy smile

The sad part is that he's stopped making arrangements in the last few years.

Now I want to play stuff like La Campanella and Rach 2... but of course, I can't make those pieces as beautiful sounding as the other recordings out there.
