When does a piano become a Floor Queen?

Why does a piano become a Floor Queen?

How can a good dealer successfully sell a Floor Queen?

Inquiring minds....

A Floor Queen? That's a term I've never heard before!

Would you mind explaining what a 'Floor Queen' is?

Speed Queen meets Dyson?

Marty in Minnesota

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

Floor Queen.

A piano which sits unsold on the piano dealer's showroom floor, sometimes for months, sometimes for years.

It differs from a "Nailed Down" piano, in that the dealer would really like to sell it.

There's a Floor Queen (Bosie 225 grand) in a local piano showroom that I've had my eye on for four years. Now if they'd just lower the price by another $40K......

I've got an never-sold Petrof IV Chippendale in mahogany that I've had on the floor for about 7 years!

Okay, Steve, you know that advertising is not allowed on the forums. smile (Just kidding, in this case...)

You could always take the Petrof home to your wife... but your old restored Chickering player looks nice too. smile

Perfect example. Petrov IV's are very nice pianos.

Why hasn't it sold?

I don't know about anyone else but in my search I was absolutely disinterested in paying anything extra for fancy finishes or styling. I don't think those kinds of pianos do as well in economic downturns.

A great question in that it performs VERY well. Several shoppers who have considered it end up buying one of our used and/or rebuilt Steinways or M&Hs.
