I'm planning to buy some for myself and those seems producing a decent quality sound, or what do you think?

Hi!

The other day I did a test of three different microphones and I'd be most grateful for feedback as to which gives the sound that people like best

The first is a well respected vintage JVC M201, then a Zoom H2 digital recorder and then a pair of cheap Takstar condenser units.

Best wishes

David P

It's an AKG C-3000. A budget condenser microphone, around ~275.00 US

See http://recordinghacks.com/microphones/AKG-Acoustics/C-3000

There may be better choices!

What's your budget and what type of recording device(s) are you planning to use?

A North Atlantic Island former...
Hello. It's hard to tell with such long samples, but ... there seems a lot of hiss on the first (analogue?) recording which is absent from the other two. Any chance you choose shorter samples that could be more easily compared? Perhaps using SoundCloud instead of Youtube?

Hmm, my budget for microphones is very flexible. If I can get a lot better mics for $500 compared to $250, then i'll buy them. To give a price, lets say $400 for each mic. My piano is Yamaha m5j from -80 or -81.

Assuming you have a decent room and recording equipment, my personal favorite for that application given the budget is the AKG C214. You can get a computer matched stereo set for under $900.00. They can be used either in a close mic setup or a stereo field pattern for a more ambient sound (if you have a quiet enough recording environment to pull it off).
