My wonderful, beautiful Wife bought me a new (to me) Roland KR-115M mini grand piano for my Fathers day, birthday, and Christmas presents (for the next 20 years). Its three years old and in perfect condition. I am so excited. It will be delivered by next Wednesday. I can't wait.........Pictures to follow. I wonder if it will improve my playing?????

Not that I know much about this piano, but it appears to be similar to the Yamaha models where they have a much more realistic action on a digital? Assuming that's the case, it should actually improve your playing because it will allow you to interact with the keyboard better, better dynamics, etc.. You'll have to let us know!

I used to have a Roland RD-150 digital stage piano, and I loved it. In fact, the sound of it was so good that when I actually started considering the purchase of an accoustic piano, I found I couldn't live with the way an upright sounds anymore. I'm sure you'll absolutely adore it. And so will your wife.

I don't really get the point of the 'mini grand' form factor, though. Seems to me if you're getting a DP anyway, you're better off getting the one with the smallest possible footprint. But that's just my opinion.

Enjoy!

Congratulations. It's cute, it's beautiful, it's a show piece for your home. I don't know just how good it is. I'm sure it's a real good DP. I also don't know what you've been playing. Am sure it will improve your playing from my experience with my humble, old, but good setup. Makes playing more realistic. I look forward to the pictures.

wj3 - Congratulations! I also am the proud owner of a Roland digital grand. I have had it for about 6 years and love it as much as the day I got it. I play it hard most days and so far the only maintenance I've done is to dust it.

I am wishing you many years of enjoyment from this fine instrument.

How exciting to get a new instrument! And yes, your playing will definitely improve. First, you will be inspired to play more on it, and secondly, because it's a higher end digital, they really go all-out on the action to give you a more realistic piano feel and much more control. I would love to see pics and perhaps hear a recording? laugh

Congratulations! I can relate. I slept under the grand surrounded by my dogs only for the first night. It was a bit uncomfortable so I stopped doing it. What was most fun for me was the process of understanding her. Was amazed that she could do so much more. She has many more variety of voices and is much more responsive than my old upright. Pretty soon i was making all kinds of personal connections with her. My husband thinks I am crazy but I believe you too will start making personal connections with your piano. I'm very happy for you.
