Hey everyone, just thought I'd post my tentative list of pieces I'm preparing for grad school and see what people thought. I'm mainly curious if you think the Bach is substantial enough for the auditions.
I'm shooting for schools such as University of Maryland,BU, University of Michigan, I'll re-apply at UMass where I currently attend, and probably a few others.
Here it is!
Bach - Toccata in E minor BWV 914
Beethoven- Piano Sonata Op.26
Brahms - Piano Sonata Op.2
Rzewski - North American Ballads: III, IV
Chopin - Etude Op.25 No.10

I think it's certainly substantial enough.

Love the program, btw!

I'm probably not qualified enough, but I think it's a fine program for grad school auditions.

bplary,

that's a great list - and the Rzewski is a bonus on top of the tradition. but why not contact the schools and talk w/someone and get their advice? what would they like to hear? what kind of a stylistic spread? i know they describe what they want in catalogues and such but you can get a much better feel directly from a person .. and it might also make you more comfortable when you get to the audition stage.
