Hi there:-) I was wondering is there any possibility to play classical not electronic piano without disturbing others in the house? We had to move out in a very small department including grandparents and my little sister who is 4months old and she starts crying immediately when i start practising. I really want to continue with my music school, so it would be nice to know that there is the way that only I could hear the sound of the piano... Help please?

Yes, you can install an optical MIDI sensor strip with a mute bar. This can route sound through a set of headphones with a small amp box mounted under the keybed.

Unity of tone through applied research.

But that will not be silent. It would probably be easier and less expensive just to get a digital piano for when you want to practice silently.

Besides what the others already mentioned, you may also keep your eye out for an Asian-made upright piano - most have a practice pedal (or "mute pedal") that drops felt in front of the strings and muffles the sound. For that matter, you can install a similar system on pretty much any piano. Like the other solutions, though, it has its drawbacks. The keys tend to feel a little heavier when playing, and it is still not totally silent. I have often used it though, late at night or when someone was taking a nap, etc., with great effectiveness.
