I have not been able to find anything about getting to and starting the rhythms in the manual. Using the metronome is no problem, but using the rhythms is. Major blunder in the manual? Or might it be something I have overlooked?

OK,
Nothing amiss here - the Grooves are 'hidden' in the metronome!
Turn on the 'metro' scroll through the time signatures 4/4.....etc.
keep going..... soon youl hit those rhythms.

I think the latin ones are pretty spot on!

Sad, but you cant save them to a setup.(James are you taking notes
here? For the next OS revision I mean.)

Yeah the manual is vague on this - at least the pannel graphics could have made it plain.

Tip for MP6/10 owners...

The manual cover is made of very thin slipery paper which will soon get creased and grubby.

Get some sticky backed plastic film - bit of an opperation but now it wont jump out of your hand and you can wipe of the remains of that jam sandwitch!

Thanks puff. You saved my day. The Latin rhythms are very good. Miles ahead of practically all arrangers. The HH swing and the jazz ride is also good, but the jazz waltz is not. I will have to do that myself with the sequencer. The drum set sounds are very good on the MP6. The rhythms have numbers, but there seems to be no way of getting to them through the sound or setup banks. But holding the value button down will get you through the list very fast. I hope Kawai can do something with that problem. But I am not complaining. In less than 36 hours I have managed to do all the basic things i need with the board, including connecting it to my Korg, and layering sounds from both through my amps.
And what I want for Christmas is an MP6 plus arranger, with some more and better jazz things. And a couple of other improvements.

Kawai James. I read through everything in the user manual about the rhythms about half a dozen times before I posted my question here. That the rhythms could be found in the most unpractical way possible was beyond me. Now Puff gave that bit of info that should have been in the manual. So when user manuals wont give the NECESSARY info, there are forums.
The MP6 is a very good board, and the manual is not bad either. I dont expect everything to be perfect.

Hello cubop,

Here are the relevant instructions in the owner's manual:

When ‘Pattern’ is shown in the LCD display:

Press the VALUE buttons to selected the desired time signature/drum rhythm.
  • There are ten different types of time signature available:
    1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 3/8, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8, and 12/8.
  • Please refer to page 82 of this owner’s manual for a full list of available drum rhythms.

I believe the MP6's Metronome/Drum Rhythm functionality is largely the same as the CA93/CA63 and previous generation 'CA' models.

For Kawai engineers, this method of operation is perhaps perfectly natural (it's how the same functionality is implemented on other models, after all), however for consumers who are otherwise unfamiliar with Kawai DPs, accessing drum rhythms via the Metronome may feel a little impractical.

I will raise this point with the MP6 team, and look into the possibility of updating the instrument's owner's manual to clarify the Drum Rhythm accessibility.

Kind regards,
James

How about a software update to allow direct access to the drum patterns in the same way as the Sounds i.e. 1-1-A etc.
It would also be helpful to have similar patterns on the A-B-C-D buttons

James...
Is Version 1.12 the latest update for the MP6? Did I read somewhere that there is a new beta update?
Thanks in advance,
H.K.
