Don't be ashamed! When I have a horrible day, I'll pull 'em up on Netflix and laugh until I cry. It's so stupid it's brilliant. I think they've helped me stay sane on more that one occasion, so you should view 'em as a really ridiculous national treasure. grin

I am jealous of you and your Beethoven sonata!

I rather like being on a "pure" list. I feel like I should have a little halo or something....

Made it to the public library's music center for a short practice session. So I'm still "pure," at least until next week!

I'm very grateful that the library makes pianos and practice rooms available to anyone who stops by to practice.

Judging by the very-well-loved condition of the piano I was assigned, my gratitude is shared by many. I am grateful, though!

I am back from our trip to Spain, and started playing again yesterday (May 18). So I only missed 13th-17th. If felt good to sit down and tinkle the ivories yesterday!

I am just back after four days at a running event as a volunteer. I took my piano with me and got some practice time in the motel we were in three of the days. The fourth day however required me to work most of the day and then walk the course through the night collecting marking tape and directional arrows. So I was unable to play that day, but rest assured I am going to spend more time at the piano this week to make up for my falling off the wagon.

Surprisingly easy, barely an inconvenience.

What an interesting reason to have missed playing!

I've put you back on the wagon!

Still on track! I need to learn to take breaks... I went three hours without one today and that can't be good.

At risk of losing my 2013 "purity" today... out of town on business again, and no time to hit the library practice rooms. Slight chance I can make a run at a piano in a nearby hotel after dinner, but I think the jig may be up...

Thanks, AimeeO -- you inspired me to preserve my purity!

I snuck into the Allerton Hotel after dinner, where they have a clapped-out old Young Chang upright, and I spent a hard twenty minutes working through my memorized review pieces.

An ideal practice session it wasn't, but it was SOME practice.

Casini, I'm still on track for 2013.

It's definitely hard to count playing on a piano in the wild as a "practice" session in the traditional sense, but what you -are- practicing is performing in front of folks. That's important.

And let's not forget, MOYD isn't just about practice - it is any sort of playing, be it practice, performance, noodling... anything goes, just play the piano!

Thank you, Casini. I was trying to honor the intent of MOYD, not solicit critiques of my practicing habits. I might do that elsewhere on the ABF, but not in this thread.

I might, but I won't, because I think I already know the difference between practice and "playing on a piano in the wild."

smile I didn't think you were looking for critiques or support- I just commented after Whizbang wrote in case any newcomers to MOYD got to thinking that it is essential for MOYD to PRACTICE as opposed to just play. Sorry if it came across the wrong way!
