Hi. I'm looking for a solo piano arrangement of Rhapsody in Blue - which edition should I look for and from what site can I order it in the UK? Thanks. blush

The piano solo version that I have is published by New World Music, New York (Warner Bros. Publications, Inc. New York). I believe it is the "standard" piano solo version ("based on original").

I am not aware, other than simplified arrangements and the original (with orchestra reduced for second piano), of other solo versions available, but I can't answer your question about where to order in the UK. I would think that any music supplier in the UK could answer that question for you. I think you would have to specify that you want the solo piano version "based on the original score," not a simplified version.

Regards,

BruceD

This seems a fairly standard edition,

http://www.free-scores.com/download-sheet-music.php?pdf=31021

My personal shop-bought copy is The Chappell Authentic edition, which actually has a (reproduction) Gershwin signature, so I suppose he was pretty happy with that.

To be honest, variations look VERY minor, for example, there are number 3's in the slurs of the 16th bar over the treble and the bars are not numbered.....

Other than small things like that they are very similar indeed.

By the way, this work carries a dedication to band-leader, Paul Whiteman.

Back in HS I had a standard copy simplified version (dark blue cover) from 'new world music corp.'

When I wanted to study it recently with Jeffrey Biegel, he had me purchase the Alicia Zizzo annotated version. Much better, and yes, much more difficult. It says on the cover "R in B Restored to Gershwin's Original Manuscript by Alicia Zizzo"

Alfred on the cover
Warner Bros Pub 1996 inside
