I got this baby since Monday 13 May. I un-boxed it at the showroom and loaded it in my small Mazda 2 sedan, assembled it at my new home.

Here are some (many) pics.

So far so good.

And here's something Casio should take note of:

B6, C7, E7 notes are not sounding from where they should. The stereo effect is not right. The notes sound too much towards the center. The other notes are OK.

Also, the B6, other than sounding towards the center, is sort of louder than the surrounding notes.

May be Mike Martin could check these issues and let us know if I got a lemon -- or if it can be fixed through firmware update (?).

A design issue: the buttons are a bit too low -- too close to the sharps and flats. My left hand fingers accidentally touched on the buttons many times especially when spanning my fingers, interrupting my play and spoiling the mood.

Otherwise it's a pretty good machine. I'm really enjoying it and have yet to adjust its placement in the house for proper acoustics.

The stereo panning in our samples is not done artificially, it is based on the stereo mic placement during the original sample sessions. It would impossible for panning to change on those notes as the microphones do not move for the recording sessions. All of our current generation products use the same stereo samples. Listening to my PX-5S in headphones, the only discernible difference I can hear in that range is just a touch more "knock" of the cabinet in that range. The note itself does not pan more towards center. That is simply the natural resonance of the original piano cabinet at that frequency.

I won't have access to a AP-450 for a little while, I'm actually leaving soon for Japan for a week. In theory it could be something with the speaker system that would make you perceive a difference in panning on those note but that is bit unlikely in my opinion. Could you verify how it sounds with headphones as it should sound identical to what I'm hearing on my PX-5S.

And BTW, It looks beautiful in your home. Those pictures are worthy of a catalog. The AP-450 is one of my favorites.

Thanks, James.

It's my new home, brand new, and was hit by the 2011 Thai flood just months after the transfer of ownership. It's being renovated and cleaned up now, and I'm doing it myself all alone, so it's taking a looonnggggggg time to clean up. We'll be moving in soon.

I was, ahem, planning for the CN-24, but I got this baby for US$340 less, with 0% interest 10-month financing. A no-brainer decision.

Oh, I played the CS-7 at the showroom too. It's a BEAUTIFUL machine -- if only I had the money. frown

Hi Mike. Thanks for your compliments on my photography skill. smile

Listening through the headphone there is no problem. Also no problem with the lid CLOSED. The B6, C7 and E7 sounded more towards the center only when I have the lid OPEN, half and full.

Yes, the knock was very prominent. May be adjust the pressure for these keys, or soften the hammers a bit, next time? Hahahaha.

Oh, the D2, the hammer knock is very little and seems to lack just a bit of timbre, more like a dud. But if I adjust the string resonance to full (4), the timbre appears better.

These issues appear only when using the cabinet speakers. IMO, these may have to do with certain internal resonances inside the cabinet itself. May be something the engineers can look into to improve on future models.

Just FYI.

I reckon every piano has it`s quirks, whether digital or not. One old one I had, the stereo sample was such that each note seemed to come from a different place . . .it was great! But not realistic. And the reverb was too pronounced at the "G2" frequency . . . don`t forget, it`s music you`re playing. Not the piano . . .that`s just the "go between"
Don`t I speak drivel?
