I've made a few posts here over the last month asking for some upright buying advice. I ended up buying a Yamaha UX 52" 1980 from a private seller on Craigslist from Chicago which is 4 hours away - $3700 over Paypal and delivery was $700. I hired a tech to check it out and he said it was in great condition -- so I bought it without playing it. Well I'd need to get rid of it in 4 years when I graduate so I figure it'd be OK.

It hadn't been tuned in 2 years, but the tech said it was in surprisingly good tune for that long. He said he did a quick tune-up. Playing it right after delivery, it seems to be in tune luckily. It sounds pretty good to me but some of the bass notes are a little flubby.

It literally just arrived an hour ago at 9 pm and I quickly set up my microphone and got one take in before 10 pm smile

They seem to be in decent condition for such an old piano. I think I'll wait a few weeks before getting a tech to tune and do some basic regulation/voicing.

Of course, after I agree to buy the piano, some Kawai K-3 only 2 years old shows up Chicago CL for $4600 -.- but oh well!

Congratulations on the piano and nice playing!

BTW-Stubble is in right now.

A very nice piano with a sweet sound. Congratulations both on your accomplished playing and your choice of piano.

Allan,

Great playing there. I LOVE Zohar's arrangement but he/she no longer active online. I can't play any of his arrangement yet but definitely has plan to start.

Congratulations on your new love and ENJOY!
