Originally had concern about installing a mini split A/C vent over my grand. The location of the grand opens up to a 800 square feet area and the piano has the piano saver , undercover and string cover installed. The A/C will only get limited use on and off 2-3 months out of the year and ambient outdoor climate averages 70F with 60-70% humidity, but some summer days can bump up to high 80's, 80%-90% humidity. I live along the coast, about 3miles so I don't really want to open up the windows that much when the temp rises and it can get a little stuffy which is why I want to put in A/C. My house is insulated with double pain insulated glass and insulated cinderblock construction.

I was thinking about a full piano cover but not really attractive but if necessary could use it when the A/C is on. Anyone have any thoughts from experience?

Heres a photo , the vent will be directly above the curtain rod centered.

I can't speak from experience, if you mean an exact situation like this.

Considering that you already have the undercover, an air conditioner vent that far above the piano should make no difference at all. It is obvious that your home in general could stand a little less moisture, so that is a good side benefit of the air conditioner.

As Phil said, there probably wouldn't be a problem. There are vent grills which diffuse to the sides, rather than down. That might keep everything a little bit more diffuse.

Your Bechstein is very beautiful.

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

Thanks for the feedback, and great tip about diffusing the vents didn't even think about that. Now my next worry will be to make sure the A/C installers work very carefully around my piano. of course i will cover her up with the thickest blankets and will be there hold the ladder. smile
