I have seen people refer to Yamaha as "Yammie" and Boesendorfe as "Bosie." I assume those are terms of endearment. I'm wondering what other brands might also have nicknames:

August Foerster = Auggie or Forstie ?
Baldwin = Baldie ?
Bechstein = Beckie ?
Boesendorfer = Bossie
Boston = Bostie ?
Charles Walter = Charlie or Wally ?
Essex = Essie ?
Estonia = Estie ?
Fandrich = Fandie ?
Fazioli = Fazzie or The Faz ?
Feurich = Feurry ?
Grotrian = Grotie ?
Hallet Davis = Hallie or Davie ?
Howard = Howie ?
Kawai = (hmm... it's already got an "ee" sound at the end) ?
Knabe = Knabie ?
Mason and Hamlin = Massie ?
Nordiska = Nordie ?
Pearl River = Pearly ?
Petrof = Petrie ?
Pleyel = Pleyie ?
Pramberger = Prammie ?
Roenisch = Ronnie ?
Samick = Sammie ?
Schimmel = Schimmie ?
Schulze-Pollmann = Schulzie or Pollie ?
Shigeru = Shaggy ?
Steinway = Stewie ?
Story and Clark = Story ?
Yamaha = Yammie
Young Chang = Youngie or Changie ?

Do we have enough inspiration to write about pianos Dr. Suezz style now?

wink laugh

Bechstein is Beck. Us older music fans call them "jeff beck" while the younger ones simply call them "beck"

Today I plan on just "goin' with the flow". So don't be messin' with my flow!

I don't know about any "standardized" nicknames for my Grotrian, but I do refer to it as "Dr. G."!

Mason and Hamlin = Hambone

As for Suess (meets "The Night before Christmas"):

It was a miserable day
All soggy and hot
It was too hot to play
It was hot, hot, Hot, HOT!

So Sally and Ax had nothing to do
They said to each other
"What should we do, We two?"

Ax had an a buzz in his head
An idea did sprout
"Let's go the Piano-ma-flooza Store" He did shout.

Sally looked at him askance, then looked at him askew
"Indeed, we shall go, as we have nothing to do"

Sally was a bit stuffy, and a bit trite
When she spoke, she made sure she would say her words right
A piano-ma-flooza was just what she needed to hear
As well as a voozamp, and a wookie-do-deer

So off went Ax and Sally
To the ma-flooza store
To play on the ma-floozas and perhaps something more

And what a something they saw when they got to the store!
Every piano-ma-flooza ever made
Was right there on the floor!

There was a big Bosie next to a fine Dr G.
And then on further past was a floating Yammie

There were other instruments there; not just piano-ma-floozas
There were Scronkers, and Yip-Yaps, and giant Vindoozles
There were Boingnibbers, Boingnobbers, and of course lots of Swoozles

But Ax didn't care for Vindoozles and Scronkers
It was Hambones and Stineys that made him go bonkers.
Not Yappers, not Flappers, not even the Bamalam-bo-bizzy
It was Chucks, Becks and Schulzies that put Ax in a tizzy.

But trite little Sally was still such a bore
"These are all thrice the price as I've seen at a different store.
A store that I've been to, although others have not
It's located in a place that not quite so hot

I will tell you the deals there that I've found
On Fozzies, on Pepes, and on a moofleckle hound
They sell everything there for prices quite less
But the name of this store I'll never confess"

Then Ax looked up from the ma-floozle he played
and saw the only carniverous ma-floozle that's made
They often eat their players with a side of wasabe
And poor Sally, still talking, was eaten by this hungry Knabie

Ax smiled to himself as walked out
He had seen the Knabie, but would not shout "LOOK OUT"
Instead he let Sally get eaten, and just like a jerk
He started a thread that made poor Boxer get behind by an hour at work!

No offense, Ax--it was the only thing that rhymed well with "work" ;-)

Yeah, those will work too-- if you're into diminutives. I am into short, simple, blue-collar type nicknames. Just ask Stan, my 70# Pit Bull!

Hmmmm, I have a Mason and Hamlin, and a Massey-Harris tractor. Maybe they are long separated twins.....

And I won't even approach a nickname for my 1914 Hardman wink
