Hi Mike - word is using Nickel batteries the battery operated Casio DP's is a big NO NO... Can you tell me if rechargable alkaline batteries will work ok? Looking at doing some "street" work with this bad boy

Thanks, Mike!
One of the reasons I am looking hard at this board, is the fact we have a Casio rep that is active on the forum... so thanks again!

Hi Mike
I was surprised that I couldn't find any information on how the WK-7600 differs from the WK-7500. Would you please elaborate? Thanks
Also, I'm glad to see that the PX5S is a hit. How about a model with built-in speakers.
Step Back! he's got a synthesizer, and he isn't afraid to use it.

I wouldn't be too worried. Try some quality Eneloop batteries and if it powers up, they'll work fine. If they work, depending on power draw they may last longer or not as long as regular alkalines. At any rate I wouldn't chance damaging an expensive board like this from leaky alkalines.

Hello Casio Mike,
Question about the keyboard action changes on my trusty PX-130 practice piano: When I use the normal classic grand piano setting, the action feels good. Very much like a decent acoustic piano action. However, if instead, I use USB mode MIDI out to Pianoteq, the action feels different and less responsive. The keys feel kind of limp in "MIDI mode." Is there anyway to get the good feeling action when using USB MIDI mode?

I don't think it's responsible to say: "SURE, try it.. it SHOULD work.. just don't use those batteries that Casio says to use.. they keak!" YOU DON'T know if nickel is OK for this board... ps and alkalines are perfectly safe IF you know how to handle them properly.

Guys, when you are using alkaline, they will eventually go dead. Using rechargables isn't going to provide any different voltage range than the unit would experience normally. It will either work or won't work. If it fries the slab, then the slab is also going to fry as the alkaline batteries drain down. If Casio forgot to make the unit compatible with excellent batteries such as Eneloop, that would be a very unfortunate oversight. The worst that should happen with rechargables is either the unit won't power on, or it only lasts a short time before refusing to power on.

I asked the team in Tokyo, they could not recommend rechargeables batteries. Sorry, I can't give an official approval.

Yes! Your idea worked great. When the PX-130 is in MIDI mode, Pianoteq offers the option of calibrating the velocity curve for the keyboard and calibrating the sustain pedal, and some other stuff.
I clicked the "calibrate" button on the Pianoteq screen and it walked me through a step-by-step procedure asking for key presses for pp, p, medium, f, ff, fff. This generated a calibration curve visible on the screen with some handle points that are mouse adjustable.
After some experimentation, I found that I could get ff and fff without bottoming out the keystroke, and then used the mouse to tweek the handle points, to construct a very responsive feel.
The adjusted velocity curves can then be stored as "presets" for the various grand piano simulation options.
My PX-130 is now entirely satisfactory as a MIDI keyboard with Pianoteq instruments. TY TY for your helpful reply.
