Griffin, I love staycations, enjoy!

Did anyone else see the movie "Standing in the Shadows of Motown"? It's all about The Funk Brothers.. excellent movie I saw it back when it premiered here in NY, and the producers came on the stage afterwards and talked about it and answered questions from the audience.

Wow! Lots of Spanish pop music! I will sit back and listen to them all in a bit, along with everything else.

Elssa, be careful with Irene! If you have to evacuate, do it(although one of the things I despise the most is an evacuation. the traffic!).

Adeltrout, you just said "If angeltuner has to evacuate" and then you said that the thing you hated the most was "evacuating in traffic"

I am so glad I bought a syphon whilst in town to fix our toilet, i would hate evacuating in traffic.

Hi Everyone!
I'm relaxing on my screened-in porch and having an iced coffee drink. It's a great way start a staycation! The weather is also decent. That nasty heat wave has gone away. Life is good! I could get used to this.

Rossy, I'm so glad you're enjoying your new laptop. You deserve it. I'm also pleased that Wayne and I introduced you to the joys of enchilada eating. Sorry about carbo-coma. I forgot that this was your first time. I don't know what Wayne does to avoid it. I usually eat 2, and wait about 20 minutes to give my stomach time to digest. By that time you'll know if you can eat more enchiladas. I usually can eat one more (depending on the type of filling). Buen provecho!

Recaredo, I agree with Aimee. Don't hold back on the Spanish pop. I only get to hear Spanish pop music when you (and now Carp) post it. I absolutely LOVE what I've heard. Pretty cool stuff! Carp, I hope everything went well with the harpsichord. I've never had the pleasure of playing a real harpsichord. Elssa, stay safe from the hurricane. I hope the storm takes a different direction that isn't destructive. BTW, I loved hearing the Doors after all of these years.

I am taking a vaction from doing any postings today. However, I've already lined up plenty of good things for my Sunday morning classical posts. Right now, however, it's time for some piano practice!

I’m glad to see you liked Spanish Pop. I have to say that I asked advice to my wife about more songs. She has proposed these ones, but says that is able to propose many more. She really enjoyed this music when was a teen.

I really enjoyed these Recaredo. I hope to hear more. I think it is great to share music you've grown up with, as well as what you enjoy listening to today. That is what got me interested in posting music I grew up listening to on this thread.

Goodnight dudes and dudettes, I have been here and in a seperate tab.
In the seperate tab lives my music programme.
I love my music programme, today I worked in it for three hours, pressed the wrong button and lost everything.
I would have liked to know just which button i pressed that made everything go way, but I haven.t a clue.

Then I worked for another seemingly endless task, and managed to make a confusion.
after the confusion, i went on to create a mess.

I wiped the mess away and started again, this time I actually accomplished nothing, but it only took me a hour and a half to do that, so a definate improvement.

slowly slowly catchy monkey disease is what I achieved overall, but tommorrow is another Sunday, and I am greatly looking forward to everybodys posts....

Not so easy to evacuate anywhere with a kitty who becomes hysterical in moving cars, but still hoping it won't be necessary despite all the flood warnings! Were you in New Orleans during Katrina? Thanks to you and all for your good thoughts.

Good Morning everyone! It's Sunday morning, and I have some classical music to share. Each of the posts have a direct, or indirect connection to the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO). I was introduced to these young artists I'm posting either because I was introduced to them at performances I attended, or videos I've viewed.

My first post is trumpeter Sergei Naknikov performing "Concerto in C Minor" by Alessandro Marcello. It was originally writen for oboe and strings. His performance is with the SPCO under the direction of Hugh Wolff.

Good morning Carp! We must have posted at the same time. I love the Temptations. I grew up listening to them starting in high school. I hope you'll post more. The Motown, R&B and other soul sounds is what I tend to post during the week. Sundays, however, I post the classical music.

I'm glad things went well yesterday with the harpsichord. I've often wanted to try playing one. However, I've enough to do studying the piano!

My second post is the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment performing a collection of Henry Purcell's Airs, fantasies and dances. The OAE is conducted by Rachel Portman. I first heard this Brittish ensemble nearly 5 years ago when they were presented in a festival of world chamber orchestras sponsored by the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
