Hello folks,

I am new to this forum. I am in the market for a new piano for my Son and I desperately need your help.

I found this piano in the used market and the owner wants me to make him an offer. I am not sure how much it was new and how much it should go for these days....Or is this even a good digital piano anymore?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I would avoid this old Casio and spend the money on a new PX-150 or CDP-120.

Cheers,
James

If you want to do some research on entry level pianos, I would recommend Tim Praskin’s reviews.

Also, take some time to read the Piano Buying Guide at http://www.pianobuyer.com/

I would suspect that the owner of the old AP-60 is merely trying to get you to pay good money for his old junk. If you buy just about anything new from a reputable company, you should do OK.

OP might be on a minimal entry budget. If it works, everything has a price. That's pretty old though. Perhaps $150? I wouldn't sink too much into it for sure. Just don't expect it to last forever. Check that all the keys and pedals work, and that the volume control is healthy. Check that the tone selection works, and that the sounds work. Don't sweat the floppy drive if it's nonfunctional by now. [We snapped up an older slab for $120, and frankly have been very pleased with its service to us!]

take azpianonews reviews with a grain of salt.. I recommend you have your piano teacher check out the various pianos. Though the AP-620 had great reviews, after having received the piano, the notes sounded muffled to me, my daughter, and her friends in comparison to even a cheap $2000 acoustic yamaha piano. Before you buy any digital piano, I strongly sugguest you have your teacher check it out for touch and sound and you listen in. I regretted buying the AP-620 for other reasons too.
