ty.beginner - I like how you took your time with this and let the majesty of the piece come through. A fine effort!

Weiyan - I am pretty sure this is the first Melodian Cover ever posted here in the piano bar. A very unique sound which I enjoyed very much.

OK this is my first attempt at recording the keyboard, and I used the soundcloud app on my smartphone. I managed to play it through with no mistakes, then I hit the record button! crazy
It is played by ear, from memory as I have no sheet music as yet.

Ode to Joy practice piece.

SwissMS nice bluesy piece...well played, nice crisp recording.

TromboneAl nice singing, playing and combo...I wish I could of seen it live with a bottle of wine. Love that sound! Professional all the way. You must tell us the history behind your band.

Weiyan nice sounding piece...sounds familiar at times...keep up the good work.

peterws Nice Pete...you have a great touch and feel...

Inlanding somestandard has such a nice swing and feel...excellent recording too.

ty.beginner enjoyed your cannon in D, I've been working on the Alfred book two version and this one sounds better. Have to agree the sustain made certain areas "muddy". I also have to fight from over doing the pedal. When stuff gets muddy, just re-pedal earlier.

LarryShone- good job Larry. Keep up the practice.

Thanks Mark!
Do the pieces in here have to be classical? I know there's a seperate non-classical area but those are finished pieces. I've just begun practising a Elton John piece to practice for building up hand independence and I was wondering if its OK to put in here-at the moment its just the main melody repeated. I've no sheet music so its all guesswork and memory (I used to play the melody years ago on a Bontempi reed organ)

Good to hear! Because I think recording when learning is a great progression tool.

So here it is complete with red dot mistakes!

LarryShone nice job on "Song for Guy"...some history on the piece is Elton said this in the sleeve notes of the 7" single:

"...As I was writing this song one Sunday, I imagined myself floating into space and looking down at my own body. I was imagining myself dying. Morbidly obsessed with these thoughts, I wrote this song about death. The next day I was told that Guy (Burchett), our 17 year-old messenger boy, had been tragically killed on his motorcycle the day before. Guy died on the day I wrote this song."

And years later a another "Guy" from Elton's band, Guy Babylon passed away.

My trusty Yamaha PSR 225 home keyboard with default voice 'Portable Grand'.
Sounds a bit iffy cos I recorded straight to my phone with the Sound cloud app.
Its my only keyboard.

ty.beginner: You are very serious in piano music. For difficult pieces, may take months to learn. During the period, supplement with some shorter and easier piece.

Below is my LH of Bach Minuet in D min. Its end of month and traffic is low, so I post semi-product grin

Working on:\

J.S.Bach Prelude in C Min: No. 2 from Six Preludes fur Anfanger auf dem
Am Abend No. 2 from Stimmungsbilder, Op. 88

theodorn no worries. and thank you

billm. thank you. i used to play as fast as possible like it is some kind of a race. after a recording i think it sounds reallly bad that way. smile

mark. i have no method book since the book store here does not stock them.. i learn mostly from the internet and trial and error. how i envy you guys who can easily obrain these books.

larry. nice phrasing on the ode to joy. i enjoyed it much. amazing how you can play by ear on these two pieces. i'm thinking though if you wanted a sheet for ode to joy, the website i learned on has a free copy available. just letting you know

weiyan. since i am learning this as a past time and not to be a pro, i only play pieces that interest me very much. unluckily those pieces as usually the harder ones to learn. so it takes me a very long time to learn them well enough. and having no music background with minimal exposure to music, i didny know the name nor interesting pieces until i stumble upon them. nice playing on the soap opera song. the tune is so familiar but i cant say where i heard them before.

Ha it seems I was playing Ode to Joy in the wrong key! I play the melody starting on E going E F G G F E D but when I downloaded the sheet music I see it actually starts in F!

A piece I've been working on for a while. This version is a little cleaner than a previous version. Nice part about staying with a piece it seeing gradual improvement over time as we improve. It's fun piece to play too.

Mark, That is very nice playing... very soothing sound... makes me feel bad about posting the following smile

after seeing weiyan about his bach work in progress, i thought i post a similar one of the song i'm currently learning... to keep a record of how each month progress so to speak. I took this a few days ago during practice to see the hands position and i changed a few things after looking at the video. Please forgive the wrong notes and mind farts/hesitations along the way. As always, i had a lead foot on the pedal as well which i'm really really trying to correct smile

appreciate all critiques and help provided. Thanx

Edit: Please forgive me for hacking a beautiful piece by debussy to all his fans out there..
