I understand that afternoon (Thursday March 21) at 3:00 Central Time she will be appearing at the WFMT studios for a live performance as well as an interview with Lisa Flynn. It is streamed on wfmt.com.

That's correct. Right after the WFMT live performance I will pick her up from the studio and bring her my store. I'm preparing a Bösendorfer 200 and a Steingraeber&Söhne D232 for her to perform on. BTW: Just received her CD's this morning. We'll have a packed Haus tonight.

Hey Jeff,

The Steingraeber 7'7" is a stunning instrument. Let us know which piano she chooses for the recital.

Have a great time!

It's much easier to bash a Steinway than it is to play one.

I am only just seeing this now. I hope the evening went well for you Jeff.

I must add that offering a 200 (6'7") Boesendorfer, one of the world's finest chamber music instruments, is wonderful. But comparing it with a Steingraeber that is a foot longer and designed to be a concert instrument is not an equal comparison.

The pianos were designed with two separate uses in mind and if Ms. Lisitsa is playing Rachmaninov, and depending on the space there, she might prefer the Bosendorfer, but choose the Steingraeber.

This is an example of artistic choice and choosing the right instrument for the right performance. I wonder if you have a Bosie 225 available?

I am looking forward to hearing more about the evening.

Hello Rich,
Thank you very much for your interest. I wish I had a Bösendorfer 225SP at the time when Valentina visited our showroom. Our 200SP is the largest Bösendorfer that I currently have. Our 225SP is on its way from Wiener Neustadt, Austria. Hope to have it in the near future.

Please understand we recently became a Bösendorfer dealer for the greater Chicago area.

When Valentina L. visited us I gave her a choice between our 200SP or the D232. After about 20mins of warming up on each instrument, she said, "Jeff, I will play both of them!"

On the Bösendorfer 200SP she performed:
Schubert's Ave Maria, Swan Song and other Schubert pieces. Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12

On the Steingraeber D232 she performed:
Liszt Ballade and also other pieces by Liszt.
For the encore she performed - Liszt "La Campanella"

Many people were thrilled to have a chance to hear two amazing pianos that the World has to offer played by one of the World’s top pianists. Some of those that came to Grand Piano Haus for the first time never heard of Steingraeber and left pleasantly surprised. Others told me they prefer the Bösendorfer tone even though it was a smaller piano. Each to their own.

Jeff,

Those choices actually make perfect sense. I hope you had a crowd!
