Am I lucky or what? Last night, Valentina Lisitsa gave a solo piano concert in a very intimate setting only a few miles from where I live. My wife and I had front row seats. What a great experience!!!

Like most pianists who give concerts here, she chatted a bit between pieces, giving a little background about the pieces and composers, to put things in context. Unlike most, she is actually a very good speaker (accent notwithstanding), engaging, charming, funny, likable.

I left humming this, which she played very movingly:

My fingers are slow, but easily keep pace with my thoughts.

Would love to see her play!

[Does anyone here remember a few years ago, when she filmed herself practicing each day for a week. Amazing seeing the dedication and sheer hours per day that she would spend at the keys!]

She is not really my kind of pianist.. She is good at what she does, but for me to really like a pianist they have to have that something extra

Yeah, that was pretty inspirational - and only just about half a year ago (http://new.livestream.com/accounts/1069269/events/1618400)

Ahh she must have done it again! The first time was definitely a few years ago, and the camera angle was different. I haven't seen the more recent practise sessions - might have to watch these for some more inspiration!
