Hi everyone,

I would like to share this piano piece with you, and I would love to hear what you think about it. I'm not the most accomplished pianist, but I do create a new piece every day.

Thanks

Mark That was a lovely piece very well played! Great job! Your recording is great too!! These Zooms are so small but they provide such great recordings! Amazing.

Ty.Beginner Loved it! You play very well. Was this all from memory?

Keep playing it to get it better under your fingers. Do it in sections and focus on the more difficult passages singly to get those secure under your fingers. Good job!

inlanding: thank you for comments. I will need more help as i delve more into the piece. I think the current goal of moving some arpeggios to the right hand and a better sustain foot should be crucial to not fall into a bad habit of memorizing wrongly. smile

This is my first video of my keyboard playing. Its very cramped in there so getting a good camera angle isnt easy-you have to share the view of my Tarantula tanks too wink
After a brief watch of a tutorial that a friend made for 'Song For Guy' by Elton John I had a go at the first verse. I'd had a few good runs with no mistakes, then the camera was rolling and I hit bum notes!!
Yamaha PSR 225, Portable Grand, Octave-1, Reverb level 12/127.

I fell far behind in responding to this month's submissions, but not
in listening. I meant to respond earlier smile

Newman - Juilia - much appreciated

Greener - Meditation - well done

LadyPayne - When You Wish Upon a Star - very playful
- Down by the Sally Gardens - beautiful

TheodorN - Yesterday, nice work.
I find the overhead view a bit uncomfortable.

Amaruk - LOTR Into the West
I really enjoyed that.

Codi - Sally's Song
That was one of my daughter's favourite movies.
I like you video, the room makes me think of a movie set.

BillM - Strawberry Fields Forever. I like your interpretation.
Looks like you were injured (bandaid on one finger), but I couldn't tell from your playing.

Allard - Return to the Heart, well played.
Congratulations on the new piano, sounds great.

Saranoya - Handel, nice steady tempo and good dynamics

peterws - contemplation 2
This has the characteristic peterws feel. I enjoyed it.
Am I correct in assuming the white dots were cloned sheep instead of cows?

Inlanding - Trailing lights
I like your improv. Nice job on the repeated notes, I've been having a but of trouble with those lately.

SwissMS - 12 O'Clock Jump - this one is lot's of fun

TromboneAl - If I Only Had a Brain - and more fun

Weiyan - The Moon Is My Heart - nice effort, your playing is
progressing

peterws - you certainly are versitile

Inlanding - some standard - more great playing

ty.beginner - Canon in D - good tempo, very musical

Weiyan - Love is Blue Melodian Cover. This made me smile.

LarryShone - Ode to Joy, Song for Guy
- you have good steady sense of time

Weiyan - Minuet in Dm (left hand) - good start

Mark - Fantasy Bossa - nice piece, sounds quite polished to me.

ty.beginner - clair de lune
We've all hacked well loved pieces. You at least kept to a tempo you can manage. When I hack a piece there is usually a lot more blood and gore. blush
My only comment is regarding the arpeggiated chords around 2:29. These are usually played rapidly, effectively rolling the chord. Here is the description from the wkikpedia entry on List of musical symbols:

"Arpeggiated chord A chord with notes played in rapid succession, usually ascending, each note being sustained as the others are played. Also called a "broken chord".

Mark... - I enjoyed your selection and your performance of this cool piece. It has a nice, romantic feel to it and a catchy melodic line although I think I'd let the final chord ring out a bit at the end. Speaking of ringing, your piano really sounds good on this recording - full, lush and with a gutsy bass. Nice sound.

I'm quite tempted to study Debussy's Claire de Lune next. The only trouble is its a piece I find that effects me emotionally..

stumbler: thank you for your comments. It's just the way i learn it. I let natural progression of the speed as time goes. So i dont really force it to be faster. to be honest, i'm quite satisfied to get to my current speed as i have set a very low expectation of learning this piece. But of course i would hope for the best that the more i play it the closer it'll come to the real tempo. I'll be just as happy to see improvements in the months ahead even if i probably will never reach a performing level for this piece. smile

Yes that is true, but Im hyper sensitive, certain pieces can bring me to tears! And yet I prefer melancholy music, I favour the minor key, and I love blues music, cant stand happy pop music!

ty.beginner I didn't mean that you were playing it too slow. I was confessing that I lack the self-restraint to stick to a tempo I can manage. The result being that I have a tendency to make ugly messes.

ty.beginner, I didn't find your post negative, but worried that my post might be have been taken negatively. This piano bar has a welcoming positive atmosphere, and I worried I might have unintentionally disturbed that. Please feel welcome and participate freely. smile
