I say that because the new one is a direct upgrade of the older which I`ve just sold on ebay. I was looking, as ya do, in my local piano shop when I spotted something I hadn`t expected. A younger, upgraded model of that which I already had. I quite fancied it; although it`s been superceded by the latest version, I preferred it. And it was selling at below ebay prices; it looked and felt virtually unused.

So I set it to what I usually like, and off I went. It was quiet; the 6W per channel sounded fine even in the big room. There was a couple in the next room where the Clavinovas and acoustics were housed who came in for a listen. Now I don`t mind playing for an audience who`re content to drink, eat and talk as long as they don`t bloody listen. So I was a tad unnerved. But in heroic fashion, I kept on going until I slipped up. The lady sang the rest o` the tune. They sounded impressed. Whilst that didn`t do my ego any harm, I did get worried when they started looking at the piano . . .

£300 later, it was mine.

Years ago, the only person who ever heard me play was the cleaner in the church where the Bluthner I practised on was. And that took some getting used to: nerves. Can be a big impediment.

What is it,the new piano?

The piano`s a s/h Yam DGX630. It replaces my ageing 620 . . .and can support a 3-pedalboard. I used to practice in our church; we had a Monnington grand which had a strange but pleasant sound to it. And a clumpy action! I was acting verger at funerals at that time.
