I've always left my business card on the piano with the date written that the piano was last tuned. While I was getting my oil changed recently, I began thinking about what a great job the oil change industry has done in letting us know when we are due for our next oil change. I began to think of ways to translate that into piano tuning. I had been needing to create some new business cards anyway with my new logo. Below you will see what the front and back look like.

Here's the front...

and here's the back...

While I did a glossy finish on the front, I did not on the back to make it easier to write on with an ink pen.

The possessive of "it" is "its" without an apostrophe.

... or after 2,000,000 notes.

(All pianos should have a plinkometer)

How do you leave the card there Ryan? I know some folks who tape their card under the lid on uprights and inform the client its there for reference. Most of my clients have a cluster/muck of music books etc...on top of their uprights and a loose card would just end up getting lost, buried or thrown out. I recently had a bunch of magnetic cards made up to go on a fridge with a good Vista Print discount. I will ask some customers when i leave if they would like one, these rarely get lost.

There is one tuner I know who I often follow up on, beleive it or not, will undo 3 or 4 tightly spaced hinge screws, pry away the hinge plate, slip a card in there and drive the screws back through it. I dispise this kind of thing, its ugly, its a hassle to get off and sometimes it will even buzz.

Hey! I resemble that remark!

Can throw in a coupon for a free piano wash with it's tuning?

I usually leave a card inside piano with the date of service and services performed. I also give them a fridge magnet with my info. Then send out postcard reminders. I agree that they probably don't usually look in the piano at the card, but it is a quick reference for me as to what I did last visit, such as pitch raise etc... A lot of times I right the temp and RH on them as well.

I thought maybe you'd be dancing around on the corner with a sign saying "Tuner Available Now!"

That's a great idea. However, if you were really doing it like the oil change industry you'd recommend a tuning every two months or 35,000 notes.

The amount of oil Americans waste on the 3,000-mile oil-change myth is staggering.

Anyway, good job on reprinting the cards with the possessive "its"!

Andy
