This is the first time I present anything in the "Composer's lounge". I'm probably more a craftsman than an artist, and only occasionally compose music. The link in this post gives access to a small Intermezzo I wrote some years ago. I presented this under the "Adult beginner's forum" and got a few (positive) responses. I thought it would be interesting to also post it here where the audience is probably more critical. Any feedback is of interest.

[lame joke]Where's the "You shall not pass" part?!?! huh? [/lame joke]

So,

I think that this is:

a. Beautiful
b. Coherent (VERY IMPORTANT for an intermezzo)
c. A real intermezzo that cuts the one theme into the next
d. Very nicely played.

I wish you could've posted the score as well for others to play it, and for me to pin point some errors, cause right now I can't find anything to point out! Darn you! :P

Well...

Ok...

Of I was to put some pressure in myself to find things to say then I'd say that it's not fairly original. This struck me at the cadenza with the chords, etc, which reminded me quite a bit of Griegs Sonata in E minor, 2nd movement.

But there's nothing wrong with that really... So there you go. As critical as I could be.

Very well done and thank you for sharing! smile

PSssst... if you have other works like this you could try and post them in the March depository of compositions, etc...

Thank you for your feedback! I give your words a certain weight, knowng that you are one of the more qualified posters here. I fully agree that it isn't very original. It is basically a collection of musical "stock phrases". But it gives me some satisfaction to write and play this and other self-made pieces, and of course I appreciate that other persons also like them. I plan to make the score availabe, but I have only a hand-written manuscript. Anyhow I'll see what I can do.
