Hi everyone,
Would someone kindly tell me what is a piano proficiency exam? Our child played in (for) the Guild last year but we have since changed teachers and new one is having him do the "Piano Proficiency Exam" instead of the Guild. I have tried to google it but it merely shows up on college websites as a prereq for graduation etc.
I would really appreciate some insight. Thanks so much!!

It's probably a local or state event. Just as the teacher and they should be able to give you more information.

As far as I know, there's no national program in the US that has something simply titled "Piano Proficiency Exam."

"If we continually try to force a child to do what he is afraid to do, he will become more timid, and will use his brains and energy, not to explore the unknown, but to find ways to avoid the pressures we put on him." (John Holt)

I think this is a question that should be addressed to the teacher.
