You know, I don't like Barenboim's rendition of 102 n 3, either. Actually none of his renditions of the Songs Without Words that I listened to did anything for me.. too fast and lacking in color.

My favorite You Tube recording of 102 3 was actually done by a little boy a few years back. I looked to see what he was doing now, hoping for some piano greatness, but all I found was that he competes in Rubik's Cube competitions. I didn't know anyone still cared about those things. Besides, those things are easy if you take the stickers off and put 'em where you want, so what's the point?

I found this on youtube whilst checking out SwissMS's Yamaha Avant Grand N2 (drool).
If I could play as well as this guy I'd love to walk into a piano store and casually sit down and play this.Maybe even string out the beginner antics a bit longer at the beginning.

Rossy, you can put away your ear plugs for now. I'm not in the mood for jazz right now. I haven't heard any Andean music in a long time, and to my delight I found this performance by Rumillajta.

Rumillajta - Sumaj Orcko

This is probably all that I'll have time for postings right now. As Wayne often says, I've got stuff to do! smile. I will be checking in later, however. Off I go!

Almost missed my Saturday night post, (I've been a bit off today, I will never again drink a Kestrel Super-stregnth lager)

These take a bit of waiting to stream from my end, but worth the wait wink

Those videos look funny, Wayne, but I cannot see them; they are not allowed in my country, I don’t know why. Sometimes I wonder what kind of country I live in.

I posted Shostakovich’s piano quintet a short time ago, but last night I listened to this amazing performance and couldn’t resist. This version is so moving.

Ahh, shame Recaredo, they are funny, these monitoring/control/filtering things are really starting to bug me wink

Anyway folks, I've been trying to get this Mendelssohn Recital sorted, and am just about there. There are just four left, that aren't covered by PW members,(although I've got them covered should no-one take them on, and got written permission from the performers to use them) but there's still time, and there's been a little interest now from PC, so fingers crossed wink

Hope everyone is well, wink probabily busy practising, laters folks smile

Hya Recaredo, Yes, we fully appreciate the absolute downer of "sorry this is unavailable in your country" like someone or some people are policing folk.

The internet is meant to be a vehicle of free communication and not censorship.

Its very annoying indeed, its actually a bit worse if you have clicked on a playlist on youtube, because you may have thought, "Right I will set that playlist going and do some work or relax and not have to bother keep getting up to put more music on for a while"

And then, right in the middle of the playlist, the music stops and you wonder what is up with your laptop/pc/sound system, and it turns out its nothing, just that one of the videos in the playlist is not allowed in your country, so you have to move it along manually...

Wayne, well done dude, seriously, mucho respecticus for your efforts in the mendelssohn recital department, and if you have interested anyone from PC, then even more well done!!

I guess i should start practicing at some point, before you all shout, its not been my fault, there was an ugly welsh "lady" in the way and also her cats attacked me and left me with injured fingers.....

Like everyone elses reciting, at the end of the day it will be what it will be, and there is no pressure except from oneself.....

well I am NOT going to pressurise myself to much, because it is unlikely the doctor will give me any more valium ( after the 1978- 1994 addiction incident) and also the world is prone to pressuring me enough on a 24/7 daily basis as it is.

I think its time someone presurised becca to do a post though?

I will reveal all after............... maybe smile

This song popped in my head today. I don't think I've thought of it in over 20 years.

I like the Ooompa Loompa treatment.

Funny little doods AimeeO. When I played this clip I at once thought of "Burnin' Down the House" by Talking Heads. Rhythm-wise not Lyric-wise.grin

Aimee, loved your playing on the sonatina in G!. Your performance sounds so spontaneous and clear! Glad you decided to share your recording.

Wayne, I hope you have solved your “midi issue”.

Ragdoll, nice to see you over here!

I’ve spent all this evening practicing Mendelssohn. As you know his music is highly addictive, so after three hours trying to play his music, I thought of drinking a large beer and listening to this captivating piano trio.

I can't imagine all the people that you know
And the places that you go
When the lights are turned down low
And I don't understand
All the things you've seen
But I'm slipping in between
You and your big... dreams
It's always you in my big dreams

And you tell me
That it's over
Wake up lying in a patch of four leaf clover
And you're restless
And I'm naked
You've got to get out
You can't stand to see me shaking, no
Could you let me go?
I didn't think so

And you don't want to be here in the future
So you say the present's just a pleasant
Interruption to the past
And you don't want to look much closer
'Cause you're afraid to find out all this hope
You had sent into the sky by now had... crashed
And it did because of me

And then you bring me home
Afraid to find out that you're alone, no
And I'm sleeping in your living room
But we don't have much room
To live

I had these dreams, in them I learned to play guitar
Maybe cross the country
Become a rock star
And there was hope in me
That I could take you there
But damn it, you're so young
But I don't think I care
And if I hurt you, then i'm sorry
Please don't think that this was easy

And then you bring me home
'Cause we both know what it's like to be alone, no
And I'm dreaming in your living room
But we don't have much room
To live

And Konstantine is walking down the stairs
Doesn't she look good
Standing in her underwear?
And I was thinking, what I was thinking
But we've been drinking
And it doesn't get me anywhere

My Konstantine came walking down the stairs
And all that I could do
Was touch her long, blonde hair
And I've been thinking
It hurts me thinking
That these nights when we were drinking
No, they never got us anywhere
No

This is because I can spell konfusion with a K
And I can like it
It's to dying in another's arms
And why I had to try it
It's to Jimmy Eat World
And those nights in my car
When the first star you see may not be a star
I'm not your star
Isn't that what you said?
What you thought this song meant?

And if this is what it takes
Just to lie with my mistakes
And live with what I did to you
All the heck I put you through
I always catch the clock
It's 11:11
And now you want to talk
It's not hard to dream
You'll always be my Konstantine
My Konstantine

They'll never hurt you like I do
No, they'll never hurt you like I do
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

This is to a girl who got into my head
With all the pretty things she did
Hey, you know, you keep me up in bed
This is to a girl who got into my head
With all these [censored] up things I did
Hey, maybe baby, you could keep me up in bed
My Konstantine

Spin around me like a dream
We played out on this movie screen
And I said,
Did you know I miss you?
Did you know I miss you?
Did you know I miss you?
Did you know I miss you?
Did you know I miss you?
Did you know I miss you?
Did you know I miss you?

I miss you

And then you bring me home
And we'll go to sleep but this time not alone
No, no
And then you'll kiss me in your living room, oh
I know you miss me in your living room
'Cause these nights I think maybe that I miss you in my living room
We don't have much room
I said, does anybody need that room?
Because we all need a little more room
To live

My Konstantine

I too had a few beers last night Recaredo, hence the above wink

AimeeO, I hate the Umpa Lumpa's, and Gene Wilder, and that film! smile

The midi issue, was an idea I had, that seems to get more complicated the more I try to impliment it frown The mp3 to midi is a "no no" and I now realise how silly I was to think I could get software to convert mps to midi lol. The idea involves the midi trail software, has everyone seen it, it's quite cool smile

Anyway, bk laters folks, have a good day smile

Well it's usually quiet during an ABF recital but well done Recaredo, Aimee and Wayne for keeping the candle burning during the week!

Now that we have a date for the Mendelssohn recital I wonder if we'll be seeing or hearing much of each other before April 21.

Stick with the beers, Wayne. Don't try this.

Ha! I initially read that as "I had too few beers last night" and was wondering what might happen if you had too many beers hehehehe
I get hung up on song lyrics when I'm drunk too smile

Rag Doll, I love the Talking Heads! I posted some a while back.

Recaredo, thanks for your kind compliments! I wish I had more time to work on that piece, but I swore to myself I would post SOMEthing in the recital and I did!

Okay. I know I have bored you all in the past with my love affair with Wim Statius Muller and my quest for his $200 out-of-print CDs. I only catch a random piece here and there on the classical music cable channel, and the very few live performances of his on YouTube. I bought the sheet music, hoping I could play ANY piece, but it is outside of my skill set currently.

Through some Google searching, I found that one of the CDs had been reissued (with a whole extra CD tacked on of 25 other works!) and an entire other CD was made with other stuff on it! And instead of $200 USD for 1 cd with one hour of music, I got two albums with 3 hours of music (most of which I have not heard) for 48.90 euros, shipping included, from a store in the Netherlands. It came in yesterday. Can't wait 'til I can sit down and give it my full attention!

So, here is some Wim Statius Muller stuff that I have probably already posted.

And while we're on drinking songs, here's one of my favorites.

It's not a walk of shame, it's a walk of pride hehehehe
